Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton has accepted a position as an assistant coach on Josh Pastner's staff at Memphis.
The deal, which needs to be approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents, will end when the NBA lockout is over, allowing Walton to return to the Lakers.
Walton said he was using the opportunity to see if he likes coaching.
Walton has two years left on his deal with the Lakers and said he plans on continuing to dedicate himself as a basketball player first.
