Nuggets-lawson-leads
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The Denver Nuggets needed a bailout from their bench in the first half Tuesday before starting point guard Ty Lawson put all their troubles to rest. Lawson poured in 26 points, 16 after halftime, as the Nuggets reached .500 with a 101-94 victory over the Detroit Pistons at The Palace. Lawson also contributed seven assists and four steals while playing 40 turnover-free minutes. "His orchestration was great," Denver coach George Karl said. "They had trouble covering him." The Nuggets' bench was just as effective. Corey Brewer had 15 points, JaVale McGee chipped in 12, all in the first half, and Andre Miller added 11 points, seven assists and three steals. Denver (11-11) won its sixth straight over Detroit and swept the season series. The Nuggets are 2-2 on their five-game road trip, which ends in Minnesota on Wednesday. "The bench came in and gave us a good lift," Lawson said. "JaVale was dunking everything, Corey...

Wolves Wednesday: Old friends meet as rivals

MINNEAPOLIS It's been 18 years since two little boys on Andrews Air Force base began playing basketball together. It's been 18 years, AAU squad after AAU squad, colleges, five NBA teams, and now, improbably, those two little boys are about to face off yet again as pros. There's no way to calculate the odds of Dante Cunningham and Ty Lawson's friendship. Sure, plenty...

Nuggets-Pistons Preview

The Denver Nuggets' road-heavy schedule has seemed to catch up with them as they continue to find different ways to squander leads. That's not very encouraging for a team that hasn't had much success in Auburn Hills. Denver hopes to avoid a sixth loss in seven road contests Tuesday night against the Detroit Pistons, who have dropped five of their last seven overall...

Tonight after what seemed like six years off, the Wolves take it to Target Center tonight in Ricky Rubio's would-have-been season debut. The Nuggets, long thought to be Western Conference contenders, are quietly right on par with the Wolves at an underwhelming 11-11 despite the team being generally injury-free for most of the season. This game marks a bit of a deja vu game, as...
