Lettermen In The News: Maryland’s Francis Plays With Iced Ankle

Maryland’s Steve Francis is out of shape, not used to the 13-hour time difference between China and New York and he wasn’t even expecting to play the other night in his Chinese debut as he sat on the bench with ice on his ankle. That’s when his head coach, prodded by the home crowd, inserted Francis into the game without warning for the final 17 seconds of the contest.
