Jeremy Lin is still new in town, so he can be forgiven for getting some names crossed up, right? The Houston Rockets' guard sure hopes so. In the moments following a five-player trade that landed James Harden in Houston and rookie Jeremy Lamb in Oklahoma City. Lin thought he was texting Lamb when he sent a message saying, "goodbye and good luck." He was actually texting Rockets rookie Scott Machado, and undrafted free agent who took Lin's text to mean he'd been cut. He hadn't been. "We had four good point guards here and I was the newcomer, the undrafted one," Machado told The Houston Chronicle. "I was here (Monday) and nobody told me anything. I came out to practice and it felt good. I feel like its a true blessing. Its something I always wanted. Ive been working hard to get where I wanted to go. I feel real good." That being the case, Machado thought maybe Lin had made a mistake. "I was like, 'Hey, it's Scott, it's not Jeremy,' " he told the newspaper. "'Did you hear something about me?' I was all nervous. He was like, "Oh, I apologize, I apologize.' It all worked out." Machado actually made Houston's opening-night roster. The Rockets waived veteran Shaun Livingston, meaning Machado and Tony Douglas will back up Lin at point guard.
