Reggie Bullock UNC(photo credit heraldsun.com) The thing about a draft in any sport is that your feeling about a team’s pick as happens is quite different from the feeling you have a week or two later due to the media perceptions and what have you. My feeling towards the Los Angeles Clippers selection of Reggie Bullock with the 25th pick overall has remained constant, and that feeling is that the Clippers got just what they needed. The 6 foot 7 inch wing from UNC is now a viable option at the small forward position off the bench. An excellent 3 point shooter, Bullock shot at 43.6% clip for last season for the Tarheels. He was great coming off screens and he utilizes his 6 foot 10 inch wingspan to shoot over defenders. Bullock is terrible off the dribble(like Sam Young vs. the Heat bad), but with collection of primary ball-handlers the Clips have their is no need for him to be taking anyone off the dribble. Another thing he doesn’t do is turn the ball over, averaging 1.2 turnovers per game while playing over 31 minutes per game. This combined Bullock’ ability to attack the glass on both offense and defense gives the Clippers a player who makes good decisions and does the dirty work essential for teams to succeed. He averaged 6.5 boards per game his junior season, and also had 2.6 offensive rebounds for every 40 minutes he played speaks to his instincts; he’s always in the right place at the right time. Bullock’s potential to contribute doesn’t end with offense as he was an elite defender in the ACC last year. He would often guard the opposing team’s best perimeter player despite his tall and lanky frame. He was matched up against the likes of Shane Larken, Duran Scott, Seth Curry, and Erick Green in his ACC career.He compensates for his lack of quickness by being extremely active. His arms are rarely by his side whether he is on or off the ball and he always keeps his feet moving in order to prevent the dribble drive. Enthusiastic and ambitious Bullock had this to say when being introduced  ”I’m just going to try to be hectic on defense and try to knock down shots when they come to me.” Knowing his offensive limitations and wanting to play defense, Bullock is Doc River’s dream player. The former Tarheel possesses a skill set which will provide him a lengthy NBA career (3 point shooting and defending) these skills are always in high demand in the NBA. Bullock has the sought after combination of two crucial attributes in a wing player in the league   . Reggie Bullock’s ability to shoot the basketball and give fantastic energy on the defensive end will allow him to have a lengthy and productive NBA career, and hopefully this production will begin in Los Angeles.
