Get it together kid!

Coming into this season Louis Amundson was one of the few players I thought could help the Warriors. Coming off the bench for the Phoenix Suns, the last two seasons, Amundson brought two things that the Warriors desperately needed, rebounding and energy. He was stuck behind a couple decent players on the Suns bench, so I assumed coming to a team like the Warriors he would get more playing time and his numbers would get better. So far I have been very wrong. What the Warriors ended up with is a big disappointment.

Since coming to the Warriors Amundson’s playing time has not increased and he has shown no reason to give him more minutes. While his energy has been there everything else has not. His minutes played are basically the same as he received in Phoenix last year and to be honest his totals are about the same as well. What has gone down are his percentages. His field goal (44%) and free throw (28%) percentages have dropped drastically. Which means that if he could have been more proficient with his shooting he probably would be receiving more minutes. Even without the scoring if he could bring more rebounding or defense he would not be riding the bench nearly as much. Right now Amundson just isn’t earning his playing time.

Lucky for Amundson, the Warriors are terrible, so he will still be given a few more chances. If he continues to struggle offensively he can make up for it with his rebounding. If he can just give the Warriors more rebounding and energy he would be worth his contract. I can’t put my finger on why he has regressed a bit but I am hoping he figures it out. I still think he can turn his career with the Warriors around but he is going to have to start improving now. Otherwise I can see the Warriors trading him away at some point next season.
