Orlando Magic Daily:

Predictably, the Magic have seen their popularity and notoriety as a franchise decrease with the team's departure of All Star Dwight Howard.
Orlando finished with the worst record in the league last year and are in Year Two of a long-term rebuild to overhaul the franchise after Howard's ugly departure. Another season with less than 30 wins and without much notoriety -- just one national television game -- seems to be in the cards.
It is no surprise then to see the Magic ranking low in ESPN the Magazine's Ultimate Franchise Standings. But the Magic's future continues to look brighter and brighter. By some measures, the Magic are continuing to grow. That includes the Ultimate Franchise Standings.
In one year, despite that record, the Magic climbed three spots to 74th. That is one spot ahead of the Jaguars and three spots ahead of the Lakers.
Here is part of what Morty Ain of ESPN the Magazine wrote on the Ma...

USA TODAY Sports/Orlando Pinstriped Post
On a team with so many 20- and 21-year-old players, picking a player that is expected to improve a week before training camp is a little presumptuous. Many players are going to improve and improve dramatically.
Just in Summer League we saw how much muscle Andrew Nicholson and Maurice Harkless put on in addition to the skills they had...
Training camp opens up in a week. It will be the time to put away all thoughts of what was and begin to focus on what will be. Read that as code that I will be trying to clean out anything relevant in my notebook during the next week (don't think there is much left).
For some players, it will be merely a continuation of the workouts they have been doing all summer. For others...

The Magic will open up training camp in one week!
Our long summer of waiting for basketball will finally end. In a few short weeks, the team will be playing its first preseason game and we will finally get to see Maurice Harkless, Tobias Harris, Nikola Vucevic, Arron Afflalo, Jameer Nelson, Victor Oladipo and company take the floor. It should...
The Orlando Magic do not have a timetable on the return of Glen Davis, who has been recovering from foot surgery.
"He’s progressing on schedule and he is progressing slowly," Rob Hennigan said. "And that’s by design. One thing that we want to make sure of is that when Glen does come back we don’t want him to re-aggravate that foot. So we’re being very cautious...
If you don’t know who Tobias Harris is, maybe you should. He’s a small forward/power forward for the Orlando Magic, and yes… they weren’t a exiciting team to watch, but Harris was exiciting to watch. Before we get into his stats, and his future, he has to get a good introduction first. The 21 year ...The post Who’s Tobias Harris? appeared first on The League News.
Hakeem Olajuwon already had the chance to work wtih Dwight Howard on his post game in the summer. The all-time great center and post playguru has been training players for years now, but the Rockets appear close to becoming one of the premier teams in the league (or at least in the top four, if Daryl Morey is right). Olajuwon is taking on a more active role within the Rockets organization...
This part of the issue with the Lakers right now. Why are they still talking about the past? They had the same issue the first few weeks after Dwight Howard decided to take his talents to Houston. Everyone came out with statements and comments about it, but the best course of action for the franchise […]
The new look Lakers are going through transition after losing Dwight Howard and awaiting the return of the “Black Mamba”.
Steve Nash appears to be an essential piece this upcoming season, after losing Howard, Mike D’Antoni is allowed more freedom to run the up-tempo style he’s accustom to.
With the lack of quality depth at point guard, Nash may have to play heavy minutes...
Though Jeremy Lin conceded he has "a lot of holes" in his own game the Houston Rockets' point guard said he believes the free-agent signing of Dwight Howard makes the team a dangerous threat as an NBA championship contender.
Reminded that Hakeem Olajuwon told Fox 26 in Houston the Howard-Lin tandem on offense could be "very deadly" after the former Rockets...

Jacque Vaughn's rookie season as a coach was very tough to judge.
The Magic had a mish-mash roster cobbled together around the Dwight Howard trade and a lot of young players that nobody really knew about. This time last year, nobody had a clue that Nikola Vucevic would become a rebounding machine or who Maurice Harkless was. Let alone...
Metta World Peace is a big fan of his team.
Only it is his former team. The Lakers.
And like many fans, World Peace is a bit delusional.
The former Lakers forward told Mike Mazzeo of ESPN New York that he believes the Lakers will return to the Finals as the West's representative this year. That is the same Lakers team that is capped out this year, that will not know...
Andrew Bynum was said to be the best low post player behind Dwight Howard. He would end up getting traded by the Lakers to the 76ers for the whole Dwight [...]
