In their last home game before a 4 game road trip, the Magic will host the New York Knicks tonight at 7 p.m. EST. The Magic have lost their last 7 games, the majority of which were against relatively weak teams. This is their longest losing streak since February 22nd, 2006, when they snapped an 8 game losing streak. The Knicks have also slowed down recently, dropping 5 of their last 9 games. Against the Bulls on Wednesday night, the Magic nearly pulled it out with a late 4th quarter run, but they came up short in the final minute. Nik Vucevic, who continues to make a case for Most Improved Player, had 20 points and 12 rebounds in that contest. Jameer Nelson had one of his best games of the season with 32 points/5 rebounds/4 assists. He missed the final Magic attempt at tying the game on a leaning jumper. The Magic come into Saturday's contest boasting the 12th best defensive rating and are 10th in rebounding. The Knicks upset the Spurs 100-83 on Thursday night at MSG. Bringing Marcus Camby into the starting lineup helped to keep San Antonio from finding an early rhythm inside. Anthony notched a solid line of 23 points and 8 boards. This was actually a low scoring output for Carmelo, who is averaging 33.8 in his last 9 contests. With Stoudamire now healthy and coming in off of the bench, the Knicks have quite a few offensive tools in their arsenal. People refer to the Knicks as a "defensive-minded team", but in actuality their defensive rating is only good enough for 17th in the league, while their offensive is 2nd overall. If the Magic are going to pull an upset tonight, they will need to chase the Knicks off the 3 point line and consistently get buckets on the offensive end of the court. It stands to reason that they should be able to beat the Knicks on the boards, but if they have lulls in their offensive as they have done over their last 7 games, then they won't stand a chance. Without further ado, The Magic Word proudly presents another round of the Crystal Ball predictions game! This is the third game of the week, with the Chicago Bulls game going to Justin Dewberry. Remember, the weekly winner is chosen by cumulative POINTS throughout the week, not by games won. All results will be posted to the Crystal Ball Leaderboards page. Amare Stoudemire: New York’s Humble Superstar

Three years ago, the Knicks signed Amare Stoudemire to a max contract and gave him the reigns to their rebuilding project.  During the beginning of the season, Stoudemire became “the guy” and proclaimed that “New York is back.” The team wanted to bring in another max contract but failed to land Lebron James when he made his decision.  They made a blockbuster trade midseason...

What Happened: In the midst of their worst stretch of the season, the Knicks began the week with a home loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. After falling behind by as much as 19 points in the first half, New York’s comeback attempt fell just short when Carmelo Anthony missed what would have been a game-tying three in the waning moments. Carmelo and the Knicks would quickly bounce...

Glen Davis and his love of MMA

Glen Davis has always been a fighter. Not literally. Hopefully not, at least, because of the NBA's fines for fighting and sensitivity toward all that for its image, etc. But Glen Davis has overcome a lot to get where he is at. And this year has been a breakout season for him as he has taken a prominent role on a team for the first time in his career. A sprained shoulder...
