Hat Tip to Red's Army for finding the footage of MarShon Brooks training regimen. The video was originally posted by Billy Raymond on Twitter. I know there were many Celtics fans who were disappointed after Danny traded Brooks for JaJuan Johnson in the 2011 draft. Brooks had a very promising rookie season averaging 12.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 29 minutes per game. But then, the Nets acquired Joe Johnson and Brooks' minutes shrunk to just 12.5 per game. He averaged just 5.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game in his sophomore season. Then came The Trade that brought Brooks to Boston along with Nets' teammates Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, and Keith Bogans for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry. There's no denying that losing Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett is a very tender spot for most Celtics fans. Paul Pierce spent 15 years in Boston as both the Captain and the face of the franchise. A majority of Celtics fans wanted him to retire as a lifelong Celtic, as many Celtics legends have done before him. And even though he has only been a Celtic for 5 years, Kevin Garnett embodied Celtics Pride and seeing him go was very tough. So, embracing the new Celtics won't be automatic. They are going to have to earn the allegiance of the Celtics' faithful. So far, Keith Bogans and Kris Humphries have both talked about working hard and not wanting anything to do with tanking. Humphries is even talking about being a part of the rebuild for years to come. I haven't seen anything from Gerald Wallace, so if he's looking forward to this season as a Celtic, he's keeping it a secret. MarShon Brooks has expressed his excitement to be a Celtic. He has also made no secret of wanting to work hard this offseason to take advantage of his new start in Boston. The video above shows Brooks in a T.A.P.E. Training Systems training session and I have to say, it's impressive. This season is going to have a lot of intrigue with a new coach, new players, a promising rookie, Rondo and Sully's return from injury, and debates over whether to tank or not to tank. It's going to be fun watching these young players develop and earn their spots on the Celtics this season. I'm definitely looking forward to it. [Discuss on CG Forums!]
