The matchup of tonight's game will be between Tony Parker and Damian Lillard when the San Antonio Spurs visit the Portland Trailblzazers. Parker is coming off a heartbreaking loss against the Utah Jazz last night while Lillard is hoping to be healthy after tweaking his right ankle on Monday night. Lillard is averaging 18.4ppg and shooting 42% from the field while Parker is averaging 19ppg and shooting 51% from the field. This duel will likely determine the game's outcome since both starting point guard positions are important to each team. Lillard has been the spark plug to the Blazers team while Parker has been the go to guy for the Spurs and looks to score in bunches early in the game. Parker has to wear Lillard out on offense, even though it may be an extra difficult task since the Spurs played last night. If Parker is moving around and getting picks set for him, he'll either open up the paint for himself or he'll create shots for his teammates with the defenses collapsing. If Parker can't contribute a great game on offense, that'll leave his opposing point guard resting on defense while looking to attack Tony on each possession which might force Spurs coach Gregg Popovich into playing the slower Gary Neal on him.

Spurs claim to be NBA's bad boys, recent actions agree

The San Antonio Spurs have always been thought of as that grind-it-out team. That team that methodically breaks down defenses with its passing and low post play. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili have long been able to slither their way through defenses and Duncan was just a point guard in a post's body with the way he could break down defenses with his post moves and the pass. ...

Video: Mullin, Popovich poke fun of Barkely

A while back, TNT analyst Charles Barkley asked one too many questions of San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich regarding the game versus the Heat and in true Pop fashion, gave Chuck the "business." Well it seems ESPN's Chris Mullin learned from Barkley's mistake when he interviewed Pop during last night's Spurs-Jazz game. Check out the two having...

Duncan Doesn't Mind All-Star Snub, Looks At Bigger Picture

Tim Duncan didn't make the All-Star team for the first time in his career last season and he wasn't too disappointed either. Instead of being disappointed at the fans and coaches not having him on the West roster, he got to spend All-Star weekend with his family. Duncan told Mike Monroe from MySA.com that he: “I enjoyed it tremendously....I will not be campaigning...

Video: Popovich says Don Nelson would've used Duncan better

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has always joked around saying Tim Duncan accuses him of holding his game back for his entire career. In other words, TD can do more than simply play the post but Pop won't unleash him. We have seen Duncan show off some three-point range (ask the Suns) and in last night's game versus Portland, he showed he can handle the ball...

Video: Spurs' Jackson makes Jalen Rose's 'Fab 5 List'

Former NBA player Jalen Rose made his "Dark Alley Fab Five" list with NBA players who he'd want to have next to him in a dark alley if trouble developed. San Antonio Spurs small forward Stephen Jackson made the list being named first (in no particular order). Metta World Peace and Jackson were a huge part of the infamous "Malice At the Palace" while...

Lillard, Blazers get best of Parker, Spurs

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Rookie point guard Damian Lillard outdueled All-Star Tony Parker, and the Portland Trail Blazers held off a late San Antonio Spurs surge to win 98-90 Thursday night at the Rose Garden. Lillard collected season highs in points (29) and rebounds (seven), and he had six assists. The 6-foot-3 Weber State product shot 11-for-22 from the field and 5-for-5 from the...

Ex-Spur Oberto opens personal museum

Former San Antonio Spurs center Fabricio Oberto may be done with basketball but his time in the NBA, and international play will live on in Argentina. Tim Duncan slams home dunk on Nicolas Batum

To be honest, it's been awhile since we've posted a Tim Duncan dunk on this fair website but you need to check out this dunk he had during Thursday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Watch as the big fundamental throws it down on Trail Blazer forward Nicolas Batum:

Green takes blame for loss against Jazz

It looked like the San Antonio Spurs were going to come away with a hard fought win last night in Utah, or at least have a chance in overtime, but Mo Williams had other plans. Williams sank the game winning three-pointer at the buzzer, right in the face of Danny Green, to give the Jazz a 99-96 win. Last night after the game, Green tweeted out an apology, taking blame for...

Pop on Williams' Buzzer-Beater: 'huge defensive mistake'

San Antonio Spurs fans weren't happy with how the game ended against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night and neither was the coach apparently. Gregg Popovich is usually a guy who'll give props to the opposing player for making a game winning shot or buzzer beater, but this time it was different. Pop was disappointed in his shooting guard Danny Green for not sticking to the...

Spurs-Jazz Preview

Nearly two weeks ago, the San Antonio Spurs were fined by the NBA for resting their stars. Now, they own the best record in the league behind a red-hot Tony Parker. Parker looks to build on his first career triple-double as the visiting Spurs try for a season-high sixth straight win and to continue their dominance of the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. San Antonio (18-4) has won...

Matchup of the Game: Spurs vs. Jazz

The matchup of the game between the San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City will be between forward Tim Duncan and center Al Jefferson. These two players play different positions but, as Spurs fans know, Duncan plays both big man roles depending on who is on the floor with him and opposing teams usually mix and match their big men against him. This matchup is going...

Pop turns down offer to coach Russian National Team

Unfortunately, though, it wasn't the United States National Team that came calling According to a report on sportando.net, Popovich was offered the job to become the head coach of the Russian National Team to succeed David Blatt, but Popovich declined. While it...

Williams ends Spurs’ 5-game win streak with buzzer-beater

The situation: With 6.7 seconds remaining in the game and both teams tied at 96, Utah Jazz guard Mo Williams received the ball a-top the 3-point line. Williams was being defended one-on-one by San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green. Green defended Williams as close as he could, but Williams was still able to get a 3-pointer off that swished through the net at the buzzer as the Jazz...
