Apparently MSG was reconstructed to play the part of an old folks home in the off-Broadway (and NBA travel) rendition of "Grumpy Old Men."  A few days ago the Knicks took a look at 33-year old Tracey McGrady as a possible addition to the 15 man squad which has become a way station to retirement for the likes of Kurt Thomse (age 39), Jason Kidd (age 39), Marcus Camby (age 38)and Pablo Prigini (age 36). While there is no certainty that McGrady, who worked hard to overcome a mjaor knee injury to return to the league, J.R. Smith is one Knick who believes McGrady could help the team.

J.R. stated, "We need all the help we can get in every area (now that Jeremy Lin has ditched us for more money). . . . So whenever a big name comes up that can help our team, we've got to get him."*

In all seriousness, McGrady, may not be the piece to a champiionship puzzle, but he is not a bad addition to any team.  McGrady, injured in 2008 played didn't play regularly unitl he played in 72 games for Detroit during the 2010-2011 season. Last season McGrady played in 52 games last year, looked solid on the court for the Atlanta Hawks for whom he averaged 16 minutes, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 5.3 points per game.  McGrady did not look like a liability on the court when he played -- at least not more of a defensive liability than he had been as a star.  His tenacity and professionalism are always of value, so it would not be the worse thing in the world to award him the last spot on the squad.  However, it's not earth shattering news either.

Do you think he will help or fit in?

*Editors' Note that the parentheticals are not what he said but what he was thinking according to the Knicks Fanatics Psychic consultant
