I thought about waiting until the end of the game between the Hawks and Heat before posting. Since, at the end of the third, Miami’s up 88-61, I went against it. The Hawks are resilient, but even this is too much. LeBron has 23, and Dwayne has 21. Hawks announcer Steve Holman thought they were trying to force the baskets so they can pad their stats before they sit down for the rest of the game. (With the compressed schedule, you have to take these breaks when you can.) For the Hawks, Joe has 12 and Willie Green contributed 10 off the bench. (Recent signee Erick Dampier has yet to get in. Maybe he’ll get some in the fourth.) Big stat: the Heat have taken 31 foul shots (made 26), but Atlanta has attempted 6 (making 5, so at least we’re winning the percentage battle). Maybe Atlanta is thinking about this huge 10-day road trip, where they’ll play at the Lakers, Phoenix, Portland, Chicago, and New York. Did I mention it was just 10 days and it’s cross-countr...

Hawks feel Horford's absence against Heat

ATLANTA -- Al Horford led his teammates into the locker room Sunday night, dressed in formalwear, his left arm strapped in a sling, those long strides leading the team farther away from an ugly home loss. That sling was expected to be a doomsday scenario for the Atlanta Hawks, who did not come into the season stocked with frontcourt depth. When Horford hit the deck against the Indiana...

Hawks' lack of energy a big problem

Hawks-Lakers Preview

The Atlanta Hawks have had a habit of barely showing up against some of the NBA's better teams, a trend that was readily apparent their last time out against perhaps the league's most talented squad. As long as they're playing at Staples Center, the Los Angeles Lakers certainly belong in that same upper echelon. The Hawks open a five-game trip Tuesday night against...

Hawks beat Magic in OT, try out Dampier

Atlanta defeated the Magic 89-87 in OT from Orlando in the first meeting of the two since their playoff series last season. While it was a terrific game, Orlando had every chance to win it, but 3′s by Jason Richardson and Jameer Nelson both missed. I really don’t want to discuss this, as I would bring up the resilience that’s characterized this team all season....
