Miami Heat Interested in Chris “Birdman” Andersen

It looks like the Miami Heat seem interested in former Denver Nuggets center Chris “Birdman” Andersen, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter. Andersen will go through a physical and evaluations within the next few days. The Heat had previously released center Josh Harrellson earlier Monday, leaving two roster spots open. Most likely, those two open sports are for to make room for some much-needed help in size after the Heat’s struggles with rebounding this season. The Heat are now ranked 29th in rebounding, as forward LeBron James leads the team with about eight rebounds averaged per game. Andersen is well-known in the league for his outgoing personality, hairstyle and tattoos. His game though, will definitely add force and size on the Heat front line, which is something that has been lacking for them in the last two seasons. The Heat, under head coach Erik Spoelstra, are not known for their defense. Andersen’s ability to rebound and block shots may be the help Miami needs to improve on their 18th-ranked defense. Not only does he bring defense to the table, Andersen has the athletic capabilities to run the floor with James and Dwyane Wade.  Playing for Miami could be the best option for Andersen and to put his career back on track.
