Miami Heat Sharpshooter Just Broke This Insane Buddy Hield 3-Point Record
David Reginek-USA TODAY Sports

Even though the Miami Heat are in danger of going down to the Play-In Tournament, they’re still a team many fear to face in the postseason. And with Duncan Robinson making 3-point history recently, there’s a good reason no one wants to get matched with the Heat.

Robinson’s historic performace occured in a close 104-101 win over the Detroit Pistons. In that game, the Heat sharpshooter led his team by making 30 points by connecting seven of his 12 attempts from downtown. Bam Adebayo controlled both ends of the court by adding 20 points and 17 rebounds, including the game-winning shot.

The Pistons, meanwhile, had Cade Cunningham’s 17 points to lead their starting unit while Evan Fournier made 18 points from the bench. Furthermore, Jalen Duren contributed a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The loss droped Detroit to 14th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 12-55. Miami, on the other hand, solidified its hold on the seventh seed by getting 37 wins and 30 losses.

Duncan Robinson Makes 3-Point History In Miami Heat Win Over Detroit Pistons

Robinson’s big night not only led to a victory for the Heat; it also shattered a 3-point record previously held by Buddy Hield. In a pair of tweets by Tim Reynolds on X:

“Duncan Robinson just became the fastest player to make 1,000 3-pointers. He needed 343 games. He’s also the fastest to 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 3’s,” Reynolds tweeted.

“Buddy Hield had been the fastest to 1,000 3’s. He needed 350 games. Soon, the fastest-to 3-point milestones start getting tougher, because Mr. Curry is looming.

The rest of the list (thread): 1100 — Hield, 374 1200 — Hield, 397 1300 — Hield, 427 1400 — Stephen Curry, 459,” Reynolds added.

More than the win, Robinson’s historic night only solidifies his reputation as one of the best players when it comes to outside shooting. And with his growth as a player this season, the Heat will become more dangerous in the East.

It’s hard to remember Robinson getting DNPs a couple of years ago. Now, he has truly turned himself into an integral piece for Miami, especially when the postseason starts.
