Michael Jordan may be turning 50 next week, but current NBA player Antawn Jamison thinks the legend could still be a solid contributor in the league. Jordan hasn’t played in the NBA since retiring following the 2003 season when he was 40. Jordan retired from the game twice — once to attempt a professional baseball career, and the other time after winning his sixth NBA championship following the 1998 season. During his 2009 Hall of Fame induction speech, Jordan threw out the possibility of making a comeback at 50. “One day you might look up and see me playing the game at 50. Oh, don’t laugh. Never say never. Because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion.” Jamison, who played college ball at North Carolina like Jordan and is now with the Los Angeles Lakers, believes MJ could still play in the NBA. “I wouldn’t doubt that in the right situation with a LeBron (James) on his team or with a Kobe (Bryant) on this team, he could get you about 10 or 11 points, come in and play 15-20 minutes,” Jamison told ESPN LA’s Dave McMenamin Friday. “I wouldn’t doubt that at all, especially if he was in shape and injuries were prevented and things of that nature.” Jamison also says Jordan wasn’t joking about possibly returning to the NBA at 50. “He wasn’t joking,” said Jamison of Jordan’s Hall of Fame speech. “You hear stories still to this day, especially last year, him going to the practice facility and playing 1-on-1 with the guys and still they can’t stop him.” Jamison’s words shouldn’t come as a surprise. In December, Jordan, who is a majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, worked out with his players. Both Gerald Henderson and Bismack Biyombo said Jordan could still play in the league. Jordan would have to get in much better shape to think about a comeback, but it would be worthwhile just so we could see this moment recreated in real life. • I'm sorry but 50?! Retired sports pro's circling in & out of retirement is hilarious. They must say to themselves "self I need publicity & more $$-let's go play again."
I believe 50 is the new 40 but it's NOT the new 20 year old!!!!! Jordan stay retired before one of the young ones slam dunks your butt!
  • I would love to see him try, he might have to play zone "D" Lol
  • That would be freakin awesome. I haven't really paid much attention to the N.B.A since he retired. Watching Jordan play again would be a pretty cool thing, and at age 50.
  • Yes MJ could play and be more then an average player in this diluted league
  • I would watch basketball again.
  • I don't think he'd come back with any dominance. He may be able to play but I don't think he'd make any real impact except for veteran leadership. They have a few young dudes out there now that would run circles around him.

Love: 'Like a chicken with my head cut off' in first playoffs

It’s easy to forget just how new it was for Kevin Love to play his first playoff game on Sunday against the Boston Celtics. Maybe that’s been part of the disconnect or apparent disappointment that some Cavs fans have felt with Kevin Love since he’s arrived in Cleveland. There were certain expectations of what Kevin Love was going to be as a 26-year-old in his seventh NBA season...

Patriots react to 'tragic, sad' news of Hernandez conviction

Aaron Hernandez’s name hasn’t been mentioned very frequently in Gillette Stadium over the past 22 months. New England Patriots players have been focused on football, not their former teammate who has been sitting in jail. Patriots safety Devin McCourty and special-teams ace Matthew Slater were asked Tuesday about Hernandez, who was found guilty of first-degree murder last...

Report: Cowboys won't trade draft picks for Adrian Peterson

During an interview with 105.3 The Fan, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones shut down the idea that the team would use draft picks to acquire a veteran player—for example, a veteran like Adrian Peterson. Would Cowboys trade picks for a RB (Adrian Peterson)? Stephen Jones on 105.3: "I don't see us using any picks to trade for veteran players." — Jon Machota...

How worried should Brewers fans be about Ryan Braun?

We’re only a little over two weeks into the 2015 season but Ryan Braun has been having some pretty might struggles at the plate. He’s only hitting 238/273/310 with a 2.3% walk rate. He only just hit his first home run of the season on Monday. After the suspension and especially the thumb injury people are understandably concerned about him. But how worried should Brewers...

Has Antonio Brown's hold out alienated Steelers fans?

As per several news outlets, Antonio Brown, the Steelers highly-decorated wide-receiver and arguably the best in the game at the moment, is seeking a new contract. Not only that, he’s also seriously contemplating skipping off-season workout programs—both voluntary and mandatory—in-order to show Pittsburgh’s front-office that he means business. As you might expect, this has...
