At some point in every little boy's life, there is the moment where you imagine you are James Bond or Jason Bourne and jetting around the world fighting bad guys and solving the world's problems through cloak and dagger or with the debonaire and brovado of an international man of mystery. Those dreams usually end pretty quickly when reality sets in and the dream dies. Michael Malone had that dream. And he was very close to purusing. The Kings might be thankful he did not. Introducing himself a bit more to the Sacramento community in an interview with The Sacramento Bee's Ailene Voison, Malone said he was at a divergent path of becoming a state trooper in Michigan or becoming a coach. The coaching well was pretty dry until the last moment. OK, but you come from a New York family of coaches and cops. I heard you were conflicted. Didn't you originally want to be a secret agent? I always wanted to coach, but after I graduated (from Loyola in Maryland), I couldn't get a coaching job. I was a volunteer assistant, living at home, working at Foot Locker, cleaning office buildings at 1 o'clock in the morning. I was thinking, "What am I doing? This isn't part of the plan." I figured I'd become a state trooper with hopes of becoming a secret agent. But it's like Yogi Berra says, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." I was just days from going to the academy to become a state trooper in Michigan, pulling people over, maybe getting shot, and all of a sudden, I get a call from Providence coach Pete Gillen. The next thing you know, I'm coaching in the Big East. It is amazing how things turn that quickly. Maybe Malone actually is a secret agent. We are not supposed to know that, right? Malone has been an NBA lifer. He has spent the last few seasons as an assistant with the Warriors and has been an assistant all over the NBA throughout his career. Malone has been a favorite to get into the lead chair for some time. He will get his chance to remake the Kings. Also in the interview, Malone discusses his relationship with Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and what his emotions were from across the bay in Oakland following the Kings arena/ownership saga. He also talked about his plans for rebuilding the Kings and how long it will take for the Kings to get back to a raucous arena. That is, after he gets his vodka martini shaken and not stirred. Report: Pats employee taking footballs into bathroom on video

This is getting stranger by the moment. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the New England Patriots employee that is said to be a person of interest in the entire Deflate-gate scandal is shown on video taking 24 balls (12 from the Colts and 12 from the Patriots) into a stadium bathroom for 90 seconds before reappearing on camera. Here’s some of the report. First...

Robert Kraft wants apology from NFL if nothing found

Robert Kraft usually sits up in the owner’s box and enjoys watching his team win football games, leaving the coaching, playing and media responsibilities to his employees. But, on Monday, Kraft decided to face the media straight on to defend his franchise against the “deflategate” controversy. “If the Wells investigation is not able to definitively...Read More

NFL may be very close to returning to Los Angeles

We already know that St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke seems to be willing to do anything to move his team back to Southern California. And while there are still a ton of hurdles left in the way of a possible relocation to Los Angeles, there are some around the National Football League who are quietly applauding Kroenke’s efforts. These efforts include a plan to build a state...

Report: Kobe definitely returning next season

This embed is invalid   " /> Kobe Bryant isn’t about to spend his final days in the NBA on the injured list. The Los Angeles Lakers announced Monday that Bryant would undergo surgery this week on his torn rotator cuff, almost certainly sidelining him for the remainder of the 2014-15 season. If that is indeed the case, this would be the third...

Report: Yankees don't want to pay A-Rod home run bonuses

The current relationship between Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees seems contentious, to say the least. For further proof of that, we have the Yankees reportedly looking to get out of paying A-Rod some bonus money. In addition to the roughly $20 million per season Rodriguez is owed over the next three years, he...Read More

Browner wants Patriots to injure Sherman, Thomas

Brandon Browner is putting all friendships aside for the Super Bowl and will encourage his teammates to do anything possible to win, even if it means crossing some unethical lines. Report: Rams, other teams interested in Nick Foles

To say that the St. Louis Rams need to find a long-term solution at quarterback would be a major understatement. This is a team that has been held back by that position ever since Marc Bulger started regressing in 2007. Since then, it’s been former No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford that has led an uninspiring performance for a Rams team that is 21 games under .500. So it shouldn’t...

Tom Brady: 'My feelings got hurt' in Deflategate controversy

Tom Brady might have it all — dream job, dream wife, oodles and oodles of money — but he’s a human being just like everyone else.   That means the New England Patriots quarterback gets sad from time to time, and that apparently was the case this past week. Brady was at the center of the seemingly never-ending saga that is DeflateGate, and No. 12 took it hard. Brady discussed...
