The Miami Heat successfully silenced an enormous amount of critics by winning an NBA championship last season, and they don’t want any of us to forget about it. Because of their slow start that has followed incredibly high offseason expectations, the Los Angeles Lakers have drawn a number of comparisons to the 2010-2011 Heat. According to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the two situations are hardly alike.

“No one will ever be able to compare what we went through,” James told the Miami Herald on Friday. “Even though they’re not winning and they’re losing a lot of games, it’s still nowhere near what we went through. Yeah, right. That level of magnitude was nowhere near where ours was two years ago. Nothing. Nothing compares to it.”

Wade agreed wholeheartedly.

“Because of everything that happened in 2010 with offseason signings, it was, automatically, just a lot of negative things that was said about us,” Wade said. “(Los Angeles) didn’t go through that at the beginning. They didn’t go through anything negative about bringing those guys together, so ours started off bad and it stayed bad for a while, and then we got better.”

In a way, the Heat stars are right. LeBron was referred to as one of the greatest players of all time but had no championship hardware to show for it, so that pressure loomed over Miami. Kobe Bryant could use another ring to better his legacy, but he hardly needs it. The mystery of whether or not LeBron would be able to win his first ring created an enormous amount of pressure in itself.

However, the Heat players brought on much of the pressure that they faced last season and the year before. You didn’t see L.A. throwing any type of Three Kings introduction party when they acquired Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. It makes sense that the Heat want everyone to know they overcame more obstacles than any team in NBA history, but let us not forget that they brought much of it on themselves.

  • Let us not forget that Dwayne Wade already had a championship ring so it's not like he has to secure his legacy with more rings. He'll never be in consideration as the "Greatest of All Time", not saying he isn't an exceptional talent in his own right.

Dwight Howard has come to LA with high expectations of winning a ring that he's never won. Same goes for Steve Nash and both are respected as high value players who could (at least Nash) will end up in the hall of fame.

So to say no one will ever go through what the heat went through is bogus. I don't buy that assessment/argument one bit.
  • LeBron and Wade brought in on themselves with the "No, not 1, not 2, not 3...." and parading around like they had already done so before they played their first game. The only thing similar with the Lakers was Ron Metta World Artest Peace with his "If we don't win 73 games it is on me" comment. And we all know World Artest Peace is wacky.
  • Labron is right and as the other writer said they brought a lot of it on themselfs, with that being He's still the greatest player to play the game of basketball I've ever seen and I seen them all. What about the Pilly team with Dr.J, George Mcgennis Darl Dawkins, Morrice Cheeks, and the rest of those guys then turned around and let Golden State beat them four straight and then letting the Lakers beat them to. To me the was the most disappointing team in history.
  • Ok I'm so sick of hearin how Lebron got his 1st ring, well if you look back at last year seriously you'll see that it was basically handed 2 him bcus of the hipe of the big 3 was gonna be split if Miami didn't get anything afta all the strings was pulled for them 2 come 2gether. 2nd & true, is it was on the strength of it also being a lock out season as well so he need to try that **** this yr & see if he can get it.. IJS 2 EACH IS OWN BUT, HE GOTTA A LOT OF GETTIN 2 GET B4 HE START TALKIN MADD **** ABOUT ANYBODY IN THE LEAGUE WIT HIS AROGANT ASS...
  • But they were speaking to their own fans, what do you expect them to say.
  • It is real that the Heat made that party, but, that party was for the fans of the Heat, ESPN took a video of our party and showed it to the world, that was a promo for sales, which by the way, thanks to that party there's a waiting list of over 900 people to buy season tickets. Enough with the hate, that's why no one would ever, ever, compare to what the Heat passed through and their fans, GO HEAT!!!!!!!
  • What a bunch of self=serving assholes. The negativity was brought on by their arrogant behavior. Anyone notice they no longer speak of "not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4"...the way they rebound is not champion material, nor is their road record.

Eric Decker: It's tough watching Emmanuel Sanders, Broncos

I don’t feel sorry for Eric Decker–he wanted to be rich. Decker signed a $35 million deal with the Jets in the offseason, and Emmanuel Sanders bolted the Steelers to replace Decker in Denver.   Decker told the New York Daily News that it’s tough watching Sanders put up league leading numbers in his old role. “Honestly, sometimes it’s hard to watch them when they’re...

Semaje Perine breaks Melvin Gordon's rushing record

For the second straight week, the FBS record for the most rushing yards in a game has been broken. Last week, Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon broke former TCU star LaDainian Tomlinson’s record from 1999, as he ran for 408 yards during the Badgers’ game against Nebraska. Today, Oklahoma’s Samaje Perine broke Gordon’s record, as he ran for 427 yards against Kansas. Here’s the...

Report: Chip Kelly, Eagles GM not seeing eye-to-eye

This is news. According to Tim McManus of Birds 24/7, the relationship between Eagles GM Howie Roseman and head coach Chip Kelly, has cooled to the point that it’s become a cause for concern within the organization. There could be a serious balance of power, or disagreement in structure brewing. Up until recently, the Eagles’ higher-ups had presented a unified front when...

Jay Gruden: RG3 has been 'coddled for so long'

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden hasn’t necessarily been afraid to question his players in the media. This didn’t change on Thursday when the head coach spoke with NFL Media’s Albert Breer.  It’s a production-based business. We haven’t won many games lately with him,” Gruden said. “We gotta figure out a way to get in the end zone. We just have to score...

In what can only be described as the “Panda Sweepstakes” the Boston Red Sox have seemingly been one step ahead of its rivals to sign free agent 3B Pablo Sandoval.  According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, there’s a deal on the table that may be “in the lead”: A major league source indicated the Red Sox’ five-year, $95 million offer may be in the lead over Sandoval’s...

LeBron: Kevin Love will get the ball 'if he demands it'

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently experiencing some growing pains as the team’s players attempt to develop chemistry and learn to play with one another. Love’s scoring average has dropped from 26.1 points per game to 16.7, and his rebounds...

The Philadelphia 76ers, not surprisingly, are not drawing well so far this season. The team is 0-5 at home (0-11 overall) and are bringing in an average of 14,856 fans per game, bad enough for 28th in NBA attendance rankings, although the fact that nearly 15,000 fans each game speaks to the undying dedication of...Read More The post Philadelphia 76ers fans can get two free tickets...
