The Houston Rockets and their general manager Daryl Morey have made it no secret that they are going to aggressively pursue Dwight Howard in free agency. In fact, reports indicate that the Rockets will be the first team Dwight meets with this week when free agency begins.

Morey is referred to by many as “Dork Elvis,” largely because of his embracing advanced metrics and putting them into practice in an NBA front office. However, he lives the “dork” life through and through, sitting on the board of directors for Major League Gaming.

On Saturday night, the Anaheim Convention Center hosted the MLG World Championships. However, Morey was unable to attend the event, despite his normal presence each year. The reason: Dwight Howard, of course.

Howard had decided to attend the MLG championships and play “Call of Duty” just to relax and have some fun. His presence at the event prevented Morey from being there, though, because of NBA tampering rules.

The real story, though, will obviously come when the two are allowed in the same room together to discuss Dwight’s free agency. Hopefully Dwight won’t treat it like he’s playing video games with kids, though that probably wouldn’t surprise anyone.

Is Miguel Cabrera this generation’s Hank Aaron?

On June 20, 2003, Miguel Cabrera struck out in his first big league at bat.  He’d get the last laugh however. In the bottom of the eleventh inning the 20-year-old rookie hit a two-run home run to help his then-Florida Marlins to a 3-1 victory over the then-Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Now, I bring that up only to awkwardly segue into this. Friday, the reigning American League MVP turned...
