ESPN's Marc Stein first reported on late Thursday, September the 24th, that the Charlotte Bobcats and free agent Shooting Guard Flip Murray reached a one year, $1.99 million dollar agreement at the NBA's bi-annual exception.
Murray played last season for the Hawks, averaged 12.2 PPG, was very productive and became their sixth man however this summer Atlanta decided to go on another direction and signed Jammal Crawford to be their shooter out of the bullpen.
The signing of Flip adds depth to the Bobcats backcourt. With the return of Raymond Felton, confirmed on Wednesday, it's well established that he and Raja Bell are the starters there. Then Murray will join DJ Augustine in the second unit where the Bobcats had some trouble scoring last season which they shouldn't when they get guys like Radmanovic and Diop off the bench too.
Charlotte came close of the playoffs last season and with the additions of Tyson Chandler and Flip Murray, they are an improved team. Murray is another one that could benefit of the one year deal politic implanted by the Bobcats, who are for sale and not taking any long term contracts, so if he does OK on this pretty well coached team by Larry Brown, Flip could upgrade his value on the market for the super free agency summer of 2010.
