NBA Exec Reveals Huge Details On Pacers, Paul George Reunion
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

One of the players people will be keeping a close eye on during the 2023 NBA offseason is Los Angeles Clippers wing, Paul George. Set to hit free agency, rumors have swirled about what the future could hold for him.

An extension with the Clippers has been seen as unlikely, as the sides are apart on how much George should be paid. There are already Eastern Conference teams that are lining up for the chance to poach him in free agency, as several are set to have cap space to spend.

One of those teams could be the Indiana Pacers. George, who began his career with the Pacers after being selected No. 10 overall in the 2010 NBA Draft, could be looking to have a reunion after spending seven seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Clippers.

A former NBA executive who spoke to NBA Analysis Network provided some huge details and updates on that potential reunion. It sounds like there is more substance to these rumors than people may have realized.

“Everyone has heard the smoke about a potential Paul George reunion with the Indiana Pacers. There’s more to it than just smoke. I’ve been told that George and Tyrese Haliburton have talked deeply about teaming up with Pascal Siakam in Indiana next season,” the former executive said.

Indiana made a huge splash ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline acquiring Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors. While it hasn’t had as big of a positive impact as they had hoped, they knew it was the first of what could be multiple big moves.

Adding George to a lineup with Tyrese Haliburton and Siakam would give the Pacers one of the stronger trios in the NBA. Their skill sets mesh well with each other and George would provide the team with another two-way player, something they are lacking.

While the Pacers are an elite offensive team, they leave a lot to be desired defensively. That is part of the reason they still battling to avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament instead of being comfortably outside of it, similar to the Orlando Magic.
