NBA Exec Wouldn’t Be Surprised If Daryl Morey Drafts Bronny James To Lure LeBron James To 76ers

LeBron can become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he declines his 2024-25 player option with the Los Angeles Lakers. 

“Those same sources believe James won’t want to relocate to the East Coast, even to potentially chase a title with Joel Embiid and Klutch client Tyrese Maxey,” Pincus wrote. “Would Sixers president Daryl Morey draft Bronny James in an attempt to lure his father in free agency? ‘If someone were going to do it, it’d be Daryl,’ one Eastern Conference executive said.”

Bronny has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft while retaining his college eligibility. He has also entered the transfer portal.

Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks for USC this season while shooting 36.6% from the field, 26.7% from beyond the arc and 67.6% from the free-throw line. 

LeBron met with the Sixers in the summer of 2018 before signing with the Lakers. The King is averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.2 assists this season while shooting 53.8% from the field, 41.2% from beyond the arc and 74.7% from the free-throw line.

The Sixers would have a lethal “Big 3” of LeBron, Embiid and Maxey if LeBron signed with Philadelphia. 

Morey is expected to pursue Paul George this summer if the Los Angeles Clippers star enters free agency. George can become an unrestricted free agent if he declines his 2024-25 player option with the Clippers. 

Most people around the NBA expect LeBron to remain with the Lakers and George to stay with the Clippers.

However, Morey is one of the most aggressive execs in NBA history. If Bronny is available in the draft, Morey could draft the youngster to entice LeBron to come to Philadelphia to play with his son, Embiid and Maxey.
