Our resident NBA nerd is on vacation this week; in a much warmer place. However, being out of the country hasn’t stopped him from being on top of the news. He’s got a lot to say on what’s been going on with the league this week. Detroit Pistons re-sign SF Tayshaun Prince to 4-year, $27 million contract I thought for sure Prince was going to move on in his career and not want to return to a Pistons team that seems to be in re-building mode.  Financially, this was probably the best deal Prince was going to get as other teams were reportedly offering him a shorter deal.  He must be happy in Detroit otherwise he wouldn’t have signed this deal and chose to take less money from a contender. Detroit Pistons re-sign F Jonas Jerebko to 4-year, $16 million contract Jerebko missed all of last season with injury but showed enough in his rookie season to warrant this type of contract extension.  He is an energy player who can do multiple things on the floor and is worth the inv...

Prince to return to Pistons, but why?

NBA teams can't officially announce roster moves until Friday morning. Apparently, the Detroit Pistons are going to start with a stunner. In a move that seems to make little sense for either side, the team is expected to announce that they have re-signed free-agent forward Tayshaun Prince to a four-year, 27 million contract. Prince had one of the worst seasons of his career...

The Detroit Pistons re-sign Jonas Jerebko

The Pistons have re-signed 24-year old power forward Jonas Jerebko to a 4-year, $16 million dollar deal. Jerebko missed all of last season due to a ruptured Achilles. He played in 80 games (73 starts) as a rookie back in 2009-10 for the Pistons in which he averaged 27.9 minutes, 9.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He will likely bump Charlie Villanueva...

Source: McGrady likely to sign with Hawks

A person familiar with the situation says Tracy McGrady will likely sign a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday night because signings can't be announced until the new NBA labor agreement is ratified. The 32-year-old McGrady is a seven-time All-Star, but a series of injuries have turned him into a part-time player. Last...

Hawks sign veteran SF McGrady

The Atlanta Hawks have rolled the dice on veteran forward Tracy McGrady, signing him to a one-year deal Friday. The Hawks inked the former two-time scoring champ for the veteran minimum. McGrady was at practice with the team Friday. McGrady, 32, played for the Detroit Pistons last season, averaging eight points per game and taking over point guard duties instead of playing at small...

Tayshaun is back – Dumars hands him 27 million dollars for 4 years

I am personally astonished by this… “Tayshaun Prince will sign a four-year, $27 million-plus contract to stay with the Detroit Pistons, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. For the Pistons, convincing Prince to re-sign was the franchise’s No. 1 priority, and something of a coup considering the tumultuous past two seasons for him and the longstanding core of veteran players...

Report: Tayshaun Prince to Re-Sign in Detroit for 4-Years, $27 Million

Yikes. Joe Dumars and the Detroit Pistons will reportedly bring back Tayshaun Prince for a boatload of money. Per Yahoo! Sports: “Tayshaun Prince will sign a four year, $27 million dollar deal to stay with Detroit, league sources tell Y! Sports.”

From ESPN.com news services: Tracy McGrady has agreed to a 1-year, veteran-minimum deal with the Atlanta Hawks, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. Back in the DayShaun

When I first heard the news,  “Detroit Pistons to sign Tayshaun Prince for 4 years at 27 million dollars” I was stunned.  Wasn’t this supposed to be the start of something new?  Didn’t we suffer enough during the last few years of doing nothing as far as personnel was concerned? Wasn’t this the year Joe Dumars was going to reward us because he wasn...

'The Best Situation'

Tayshaun Prince never assumed his time with the Pistons was finished, and when Lawrence Frank joined Joe Dumars this week in making it clear he wanted him back, Prince surveyed his options and chose to remain a Piston, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.

Talk with Lawrence Frank persuades Tayshaun Prince to stick with Pistons

During the NBA lockout, Tayshaun Prince had a lot of time to think about being a free agent. On one hand, he could leave the team that drafted him out of Kentucky in 2002. He could go to a team with a shot at an NBA title. But he decided to return to the Pistons, signing a four-year, $27-million deal on the first day of training camp Friday.

Hawks bring in McGrady, re-sign Collins

The Atlanta Hawks re-signed center Jason Collins and inked guard-forward Tracy McGrady on Friday.

ProBasketballTalk: Mahoney: Hawks show uncharacteristic sensibility with signing of Tracy McGrady

The NBA needn't be officially open for business for me to take an unpopular and possibly incorrect position. Bronn made a case for Tracy McGrady in the comments of that post and Rob Mahoney compliments the Hawks for signing McGrady at Pro Basketball Talk today: McGrady may not have the ability to dribble-penetrating ability that Atlanta so desperately needs, but he’s an incredibly...

Report: Pistons' Tracy McGrady agrees to one-year deal with Atlanta Hawks

Tracy McGrady, who played for the Detroit Pistons last season, has agreed to a 1-year, veteran-minimum deal with the Atlanta Hawks, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.

Happy Returns

Lawrence Frank talks often of the need to protect the paint on defense and prevent layups. That's a mission that would get easier with the return of key players, including Tayshaun Prince and Jonas Jerebko, Keith Langlois writes for True Blue Pistons.
