The NBA announced today that five season-opening matchups will take place on Christmas Day (the Nuggets will settle for a “Seventh-Night-Of-Hanukkah” Opener).
The Nuggets schedule hasn’t been released yet, but it’s likely that the powder blue will have its first game on Dec. 26.
Meanwhile, the Christmas quintet is pretty cool. The first game of the season will feature former Nuggets Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups as their Knicks host the Celtics at 10 a.m. Mountain time (game on TNT).
Up next, at 12:30 p.m., will be a Finals rematch – Miami at Dallas (which in Denver will inevitably lead to jokes about how Tim Tebow, who arises in the fourth quarter, is the anti-LeBron). That game is on ABC, as is the following matchup, at 3 p.m., featuring the Lakers hosting the Bulls and reigning MVP Derrick Rose.
At 6 p.m., the Thunder will host the Magic on ESPN, followed on that network by at 8:30 p.m. game featuring Blake Griffin and the Clippers at Golden State.
