I am on the verge of getting moderately excited for some NBA basketball. How can I not be? It’s been what seems like forever since the last NBA action. And I mean, in addition, World Peace has come to Los Angeles. And that’s just the beginning of what we can look forward to this season in the NBA.

The Mavericks, Heat, Lakers and Bulls might be some of the teams to watch once out calendar pages turn to June. However, at this time, the league presents a number of things to keep an eye on from east coast to west coast. That’s what it’s all about, really. The storylines. It has been longer than usual since we had NBA action. In this extended period of time there have been a number of key changes around the league.

Here are some of the other new names and faces around the league in 2011-12.

Ricky Rubio’s long trip from Spain is finally over. The talented point guard has landed in Minnesota at last. Rubio shot just .320 from the field last year in Europe. This wouldn’t even put him in the top-3o point guards in the NBA.

A jovial Scott Skiles is in Milwaukee. Not one-hundred percent sure what he is doing here. But, this pose should take over as the new NBA logo.

Kevin McHale is down in Houston. I recall McHale’s time on the sideline with the T-Wolves. That being said, he has not yet had a shot at leading a team from day one.

Mark Jackson has (finally?) received his first coaching gig. He will be leading the Warriors in 2011-12. Despite Skiles’ attempt above, Jackson might take the title of coolest head coach in the league.

I will end with the biggest player acquisition to date. That is, until the Lakers get done moving pieces around to make there move (moves?).

New York, New York. It’s the home base of Knicks owners James Dolan. As you can see above, he seems thrilled with his latest employee; Tyson Chandler. While the superstars often play on the outside, the often successful NBA model consists of solid play on the inside come June. It would appear the Knicks have this. Soon enough Dolan and the Knicks won’t be looking up at the rest of the NBA.
