Quite a few people were surprised by the Denver Nuggets' decision to fire George Karl on Thursday morning. Among those surprised by the decision to let go the same man who was named 2013's Coach of the Year just 29 days ago were several NBA players. Here is a look at some of the shocked tweets that were posted around the league after news came down about Denver's surprising decision: So we lost a GM now a coach what's next!? -- Kenneth Faried (@KennethFaried35) June 6, 2013 Faried was also referencing Nuggets ex-GM Masai Ujiri, who walked away from Denver to take a better-paying job with the Toronto Raptors. Here are some other surprised tweets from Faried's fellow Nuggets: In disbelief.. -- Quincy Miller (@qmillertime) June 6, 2013 In a text message, Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson said, "All of this is crazy and unexpected, don't know what to say." -- Benjamin Hochman (@nuggetsnews) June 6, 2013 Waw -- fournier evan (@EvanFourmizz) June 6, 2013 All of the above tweets are from or about current Nuggets players, but there was negative feedback from numerous others around the league as well: Cant believe they firing these coaches like this -- Brandon Rush (@BRush_4) June 6, 2013 You Win COY n get Fired???? #NobodySafe . -- Jason Thompson (@jtthekid) June 6, 2013 wasn't George Karl, coach of the year?? -- Kendall Marshall (@KButter5) June 6, 2013 I can't believe the reigning coach of the year just got fired. Wow!!! #nba -- Quentin Richardson (@QRich) June 6, 2013 I'm confused. Wasn't George Karl coach of the year this year?? -- Shelden Williams (@SheldenWilliams) June 6, 2013 The ever-gracious Karl took to Twitter himself to thank the city of Denver for all of the love it has showed him over the past nine seasons. Always a class act, Coach. Good luck with your next job. I want to thank Nuggets fans for their support over the past 8 yrs. The karma on the street was incredible. Denver will always be home. -- George Karl (@CoachKarl22) June 6, 2013 It's a sad day for me, my staff and my family. Difficult decision to understand but memories with the Nuggets are the best I've ever had. -- George Karl (@CoachKarl22) June 6, 2013
