PLAYERS: Keyon Dooling
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
With the Boston Celtics in need of some immediate help, the trade and signing possibilities seem endless.  One such rumor would be enticing a player out of retirement.  In Keyon Dooling's case, that is a very real possibility.According to Jessica Camerato of CSN Boston, Dooling would be willing to come out of retirement to play for the Celtics.  He began to bump up his workout routine yesterday knowing the Celtics may come knocking. "I'm definitely considering," Dooling told CSNNE.com Tuesday evening. "I've upped my exercise starting today and if Doc (Rivers) gives me the word I will be ready."Dooling retired from the NBA after last season, but he is familiar with the Celtics and could certainly help them.  Dooling is 32 years old and likely still has some basketball left in him.  He played in the NBA for 12 seasons. In his career, Dooling averaged 7.0 points and 2.2 assists per game in 19.5 minutes per game.  The guard would definitely help the Celtics continue playing without Rajon Rondo, but he obviously wouldn't replace what Rondo had to offer on the court.  Dooling is a serviceable NBA guard worth consideration by the Celtics. Bad news on Jared Sullinger

Remember when Jared Sullinger slid in the draft because of back problems? Jared Sullinger left last night's game early in the first quarter. He entered the locker room and never returned. The Celtics won anyway but obviously the team can't afford many more injuries to their key players after losing Rajon Rondo for the season. The report came out that it was back spasms...

Bucher: NBA GM's think Kevin Garnett will retire before his current deal ends

Interesting tidbit from ESPN's Ric Bucher on a potential hold-up in any deal the Celtics try to draw up involving Kevin Garnett, as Bucher has spoken with two NBA GM's who do not think KG will finish out his current contract before retiring. From Bucher's Sulia post: I keep being asked about deals involving Kevin Garnett going somewhere. Hard to imagine that happening...

Celtics Win First Without Rondo 99-81

On Wednesday night the Celtics faced the Kings in what might have be the last time a Sacramento team comes to the TD Garden. The Celtics looked to begin the first chapter of their season without Rajon Rondo who was diagnosed with a torn ACL after pregame warm-ups Sunday. The Kings came to town amidst a potential relocation to Seattle and looked to get their second win over the Celtics...

The Loss of A Star: The Aftermath of the Rondo Injury

A torn ACL is a death sentence to any athlete. When a star in the league suffers that gruesome injury, all you can do is feel for them. It is a helpless feeling being that player, especially when they believe it is only a minor injury. That was the case for Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, after he thought he had only hyperextended his knee during Boston’s double overtime loss...

Realization Time for the Boston Celtics

My exact face when I found out Rajon Rondo was out for the season. It is time my friends, time to say good-bye to this current Celtics group, and start to realize that the quest for 18 this season is over. Possibly, even out for a while. After Rajon Rondo tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, I realized, we just aren't that good, and heck, we should have realized that after...

Dooling Won't Come Out Of Retirement With Celtics

Keyon Dooling is currently serving as the Celtics' coordinator of player development.

Looks like Keyon’s not coming back after all

Welp, so much for the Keyon comeback. He got on Twitter to say that it’s not happening: Hey everyone thank you for all the love and support that you guys give me daily.FYI I won’t be returning this season #StayTuned @celticslife — Keyon Dooling (@AmbassadorKD) January 30, 2013 He went on to basically thank Celtics fans for their support and say that he’s not sure “what...

Courtney Lee, Jared Sullinger to continue starting

In the wake of  Rajon Rondo's season ending injury, Celtics coach Doc Rivers has to make a decision as to who he should start at guard alongside Avery Bradley.  Against Miami on Sunday Rivers chose Courtney Lee instead of Jason Terry or Leandro Barbosa.  It appears that Doc will keep giving the nod to Lee for the time being: #Celtics coach Doc Rivers: Courtney Lee will continue...

Why we know nothing about the Celtics new starting five, and why that might be a good thing

As we sit here on January 30th, there are very few unknowns on the NBA landscape. After all, the season is three months old, and most teams have played anywhere from 42 to 47 games thus far. Every one of the 30 NBA teams has advanced scouts that know just about every potential line-up that a team could throw on the floor at any time, and how to defend said line-up. In the year 2013...

Update: Celtics will "wait and see" with current guards

For now, Celtics content to go w/ the four guards on roster and see how it plays out, league sources say. Barbosa's minutes likely to rise. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) January 29, 2013 While it was speculated by most that Ainge would give the current roster without Rondo a chance to prove themselves. that stance got a little more support with Adrian Wojnarowski reporting...

Vote: Is it Time for the Celtics to Dismantle Their Roster?

Yes, Celtics fans, it’s time to ask that question. Boston had been hanging around the .500 mark for a while now, seemingly taking two steps forward (a six-game winning streak) immediately followed by two steps back (a six-game losing streak) all season. Nonetheless, the prevailing wisdom was that the C’s were a veteran team, and so long as they made the playoffs they’d have...

Boston 99, Sacramento 81 - All-Around Effort Pushes Celtics Past Kings

The Boston Celtics came out with a whole lot more than vengeance on their minds. Still, in the end, that is what they got. Playing their first game with the weight of the knowledge that Rajon Rondo will not be returning this season, the Celtics avenged an embarrassing defeat by dispatching the Sacramento Kings, 99-81. Exactly one month ago, the Celtics visited Sacramento and left...

Kings-Celtics Preview

Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce showed up for his pre-practice meeting with reporters carrying a basketball, which he bounced from time to time while answering questions. Get used to it: Pierce will have the ball in his hands a lot more from now on. Two days after learning that Rajon Rondo has a torn knee ligament that will keep him out the rest of the season, the Celtics returned...
