A decent start by the Brooklyn Nets but injury woes headline their season. Sucks the Nets Marshon Brooks and Gerald Wallace have matching left ankle injuries.
Brooks left ankle woes began at practice with what seemed to be a simple sprain. The 23-year old Nets guard, admitted he sat out because his ankle, “really wasn’t feeling the way [he] wanted” Thursday night.
Surprisingly, his Nets team put together a winning streak in his absence. Demolishing the Orlando Magic in back to back games over the weekend.
Brooks was playing well at the beginning of the season, the second of his NBA career. Before the injury Brooks averaged 10.3 points and 2.3 rebounds.
Coming off the bench Brooks is a young talent still molding his game. On a couple occasions the Nets guard showed signs he can be a great player in the NBA.
Wallace’s sole appearance of the season came in a Nets victory over the Toronto Raptors. In one game Wallace posted 10 points and 6 rebounds, respectable. His game models the great Charles Oakley in certain aspects, if you plan on comparing the Nets to great New York players.
Wallace sets the defensive tone for the Nets. He is the identity of the defense and guards the opposing teams best player every night.
Coach Avery Johnson alluded to Wallace’s importance to the Nets saying, “We really can’t be the type of team we want to be without Gerald.”
The great thing about these (3-2) Nets is the balance of scoring across the board. No one has broken the 30-point threshold in a Nets uniform this season.
Guys have stepped up made shots and limited the opposition second chance opportunities. In their last contest, Nets forward Kris Humphries grabbed 21 rebounds against a Magic team softer in the paint compared to last season.
We’ll see how the Nets continue to perform in the future. Brooks doesn’t have a timetable to return and Wallace practiced the other day.
With injuries it is vital to see how your body responds, so the true test for Wallace will be how he feels in the next couple of days.
Look for this Brooklyn Nets squad to continue a two game win streak against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Using healthy pieces left on the roster.

Nets salute Dr. Dre with special apparel
Nowadays Brooklyn (particularly the Park Slope neighborhood in which the Barclays Center resides) is more closely associated with indie music and hipsters than hip hop, but it’s still a community indebted to the rap community. So, leave it to the Brooklyn Nets to venerate Dr. Dre. Dre’s 1992 solo debut, entitled The Chronic, is one of hip hop’s all-time great records and gold...

The Nets haven’t been able to build true team chemistry yet without forward Gerald Wallace, who suffered a sprained ankle in the season opener against the Toronto Raptors.
Although he was limited, Wallace practiced Monday for the first time since he rolled his ankle 27 seconds away from an opening win against Toronto. He’s scheduled to be available for Thursday’s...

Cavaliers (2-5) at Nets (3-2) - Game 8
OPENING TIP
In the NBA, we have a tendency to overrate some of the games biggest stars. That may be what the Brooklyn Nets have done with Deron Williams.
Now, make no mistake, Williams is an All-Star. He can win games for you from the point guard position. But hes probably not a No. 1 option, even if the Nets try to promote him as such. Or more accurately, hes probably not a No...
So, How’s Brook Lopez Doing?
Brook Lopez is a polarizing player. Not because he’s enigmatic, selfish, or a problem child type of player. In fact, he’s seemingly quite the opposite as Lopez is into comic books and Disney World. Street cred? Who needs that when you have geek cred!
No, Lopez is polarizing because despite scoring 20.4 points for a full 82-game season, as well as averaging 7.6 rebounds his first...
Andray Blatche: Hanging in the Balance
The book on Andray Blatche is tattered and traveled: man possesses the size of a center, but the ability of a much smaller player. It’s pages have produced studs (see: Durant, Kevin), but just as many duds (Thomas, Tim). ‘Tis the mind, not the body, that fails these dudes in their attempts to succeed at the highest level of basketball.
The logic behind uncertainty for the future...

Nets Injury News: Gerald Wallace Won't Play Tonight
Gerald Wallace has already missed five straight games. Tonight will mark his sixth. The Brooklyn Nets forward has been working his way back from a sprained left ankle. However, he is not quite ready to take the court again. Wallace initially suffered the injury in the season-opener. He has not played since and is following team instructions for his rehab, says Mike Mazzeo...
Johnson, Williams pace Nets in romp over Cavaliers
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Joe Johnson knew that he was a much better shooter than the one who shot 36 percent during his first five games with the Brooklyn Nets. So in the morning shoot-around before the Nets took on the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night, Johnson concentrated on finding his rhythm and touch once again. "For some reason today, I felt good," said Johnson, who connected...
Good times last night despite the loss
Big thanks to everybody who made it out to Two Bucks last night for the Terrell Brandon Appreciation night Tweet-Up. It was a fun time talking Cavs basketball with everybody despite the fact that the good guys fell to Kris Humphries and the Brooklyn Nets.
