TEAMS: Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets mascot, a.k.a. the Brooklyn Knight, got the basketball stuck above the backboard on a failed trampoline slam dunk attempt during Tuesday night's NBA preseason game at the Barclays Center. During a second quarter timeout, the Brooklyn Knight ran the length of the floor and jumped onto the trampoline over the cheerleaders for the dunk, just as planned. Unfortunately, the Nets mascot lost his grip on the basketball as he reached his peak, and he ended up throwing the ball into the metal standards holding the 24-second clock above the backboard. Now that's something you don't see every day. Let's see the Brooklyn Knight try that one again. Video via NBA. Visit us at and follow us on Twitter @HoldoutSports.

Pic of Paul Pierce, KG placed next to erectile dysfunction ad in paper

The Brooklyn Nets know Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are getting old, but they are hoping the veterans can provide enough of a spark to lead another NBA title run. Pierce is 36 and Garnett is 37. Both players are old for the game of basketball, although they are still fairly young men in everyday […]

Paul Pierce on playing his former team: "It was just tough looking over there"

Maybe it finally sunk in tonight, but it's still hard to get used to. Paul Pierce is a Brooklyn Net, and not wearing Celtic green for the first time since I was 11 years old. It's going to take some getting used to for Pierce too. "It was just tough looking over there, seeing the green and me not in it." - Paul Pierce— Baxter Holmes (@BaxterHolmes) October 16...

Random Thoughts on Playing the Brooklyn Nets

Playing the Nets is going to be an emotional ordeal for Celtics fans this season. Most feel that Paul Pierce should have retired a lifelong Celtic. He sacrificed to stay with the Celtics and stayed loyal to them through the lean years before the KG trade. Those of us who are long time Celtics fans remember when that kind of loyalty was rewarded. But it's a different NBA these...

Dwyane Wade on Brooklyn Nets, “Bad blood with Celtics will transfer well”

With Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett joining the Brooklyn Nets, it appears that the Miami Heat have a brand-new rival in the Eastern Conference. Recently, Bleacher Report’s Ethan J. Skolnick had a chance to talk to Wade about the brand-new rivalry and this is what Wade told him: Dwyane Wade laughs, says bad blood with the Celtics will "transfer well" to Nets. — Ethan...

Report: MarShon Brooks ‘Wanted Out’ of Brooklyn Before Nets Traded Him to Celtics

Paul Pierce came close to tears. Kevin Garnett fought the deal to the end. But at least one player involved in the blockbuster traded between the Celtics and Nets could not have been happier to get a new address. In the early versions of the rumored traded on draft night, Nets big man Reggie Evans was reportedly headed to Boston. Evans, who is a fan favorite in Brooklyn, probably...

Paul Pierce says the Celtics have a 'bright future'

After last night's Celtics-Nets exhibition contest, Paul Pierce had a few kind words regarding the outlook of his former team (quotes via ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg): "They’ve got a lot of good, young talent. I’ve had a chance to watch them a couple times on TV. Obviously you see their big rookie [Kelly Olynyk]; you see [Jared] Sullinger, he’s taken the next...

Gerald Wallace Says He Was Scapegoat in Brooklyn, Says Nets ‘Had to Point the Finger at Somebody’

Gerald Wallace does not hold many tender feelings toward the previous stops in his NBA career. “I’ve got, like, four former teams,” Wallace said at practice earlier this week, before the Celtics played the Brooklyn Nets in a preseason game Tuesday. “So there ain’t no [added] motivation.” Wallace especially does not feel all warm and fuzzy about his most recent former...

Sixers Sign Former First Round Pick Daniel Orton

Why not? A day after the Sixers reassured their ping-pong-ball-hungry fanbase by falling to the Brooklyn Nets 127-97, Sam Hinkie has decided to reinforce his paper-thin frontcourt by taking a flier on gargantuan Kentucky standout Daniel Orton. The 6-10, 275-lb big man will replace Tim Ohlbrecht on the 20-man roster, and figures to have a decent shot at making the team as yet another...
