Mike Woodson (Photo credit: newsday.com) Subsequent to building the New York Knicks team roster during the offseason, adding new members such as Metta World Peace and Andrea Bargnani, Knicks head coach Mike Woodson was now left to answer just one question: which five men of his team will he choose for the starting lineup heading into the season? Woodson’s answer to the press was that he simply was unsure. The Knicks coach has confirmed three out of the five spots which include: Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton, and Tyson Chandler. However Woodson is still contemplating which other two players will seal the deal for the starting lineup, when they play their first season game against Milwaukee Bucks on October 30th. While making an appearance at the Garden of Dreams Foundation’s fifth annual Dream Week, at the Knicks training facility, a few days ago, the Knicks coach had this to say to the media: “That’s what we use camp for. I have no idea whose going to start. Camp should be pretty competitive based on talent, and that’s how it should be.” Woodson is known for being creative and experimental when choosing his starting five in the past. In some cases it was a success and at other times his plans would fall flat. Knicks guard and forward Iman Shumpert, who has a history for being one of the players included in the group of five, was not on the list of potential starters this time around. After suffering an ACL injury during the 2012 playoffs, Shumpert was able to show up and start for all 45 games this past season as well as this year’s playoffs. When the press asked about Shumpert, Woodson said that he has ‘improved his jump shot’. When Woodson was asked about his crosstown rival and former Knicks player turned Brooklyn Nets coach, Jason Kidd, Woodson wished them both the best of luck. “I wish him nothing but the best until he plays the New York Knicks, and that’s how it should be,” said Woodson.
