Paul Pierce (Photo credit: rantsports.com) New Brooklyn Nets star Paul Pierce has turned up more heat between him and his crosstown rivals, The New York Knicks. During both interviews last week with Complex and Life and Times Magazines, he declared that he’s here to call what many know as a Knicks town, ‘Nets Village’. “(I hate the Knicks) with a passion,” Pierce told Complex Magazine. “Let’s start it up right now. Lets start the beef. It’s no secret that me and New York got history. It’s no secret.” Pierce goes as far as even describing his plans for the Brooklyn-NewYork takeover to Life and Times Magazine, declaring that he plans on taking the rivalry to a whole new level. “It’s going to be what it was (a rivalry), but now on steroids,” Pierce told Life and Times Magazine. “This is a city battle. We’re going to divide the city now. Before this was a Knicks town, but now that I’m here were going to call it, ‘Nets Village’. Brooklyn Nets Coach Jason Kidd, supports the overly confident small forward, saying he could share his surety with the rest of the team. “It’s one thing to be confident and Paul has a lot of confidence,” Kidd said Friday. “I think that’s something he can share with guys on the team. Some like to say it to the public, some like to just go out there and play. there’s nothing wrong with having that confidence. We all support him.” While choosing to go public with his animosity for the Knicks, he was able garner a response from crosstown rival member Ray Felton, who explains during an interview with Slam Magazine that Pierce talks up too much smack. “Especially with Paul Pierce talking all this junk, each and every week, saying something on some show, some radio show or whatever, it’s just boosting the rivalry, without a doubt,” Felton said. “Like I say to people all the time, I don’t care what people do, I don’t care if they have a better record than we do this year, we still got New York on our chest. We’re still New York’s team, regardless of what Brooklyn do. It’s just what it is.” The Knicks-Nets first showdown of the season goes down on December 5th at the Barclay center.
