NBA 24/7 365:
As awesome as Nikola Pekovic is (and make no mistake about it, he’s the best thing since sliced bread), it isn’t often that he makes his presence felt above the rim. Pekovic’s colossal frame, which is rumored to be composed of mostly solid rock, doesn’t really lend itself to a high-flying style of play. He does the vast majority of his damage directly underneath the basket — an area he’d never vacate if not for the three-second rule — where he uses his powerful build to carve out space. He has little trouble creating a positional advantage in the post, and once he receives the ball Pekovic’s surprisingly-remarkable touch assures that a field goal is scored an impressive 55 percent of the time. Essentially, this is the simple and repetitive manner in which Nikola Pekovic operates. Unless he’s playing against the undersized, relatively-unathletic Orlando Magic, apparently.
As the T-Wolves clawed their way to a 15-point victory on Wednesday evening, Pekovic twice rose up for slam dunks, one of which came on top of a helpless E’Twaun Moore. His elevated path of destruction would ultimately lead to the defensive end, where he did the following damage…
The play went down as a blocked shot, but all those who bore witness will remember it as the end of Moe Harkless, who joins the countless tortured souls represented by the skulls depicted in Pekovic’s tattoo.

Kevin Love has been out with a broken hand. He suffered the injury while doing knuckle push-ups with a trainers said sources at the time. He was expected to miss six to eight weeks due to the injury. If that's the case, and if his rehab goes according to plan, the Minnesota Timberwolves star would have been expected to return in early December at the earliest. Well,...
MINNEAPOLIS In the final seconds of Wednesday's game, Greg Stiemsma lunged toward the basket, all 260 pounds of him, just in time to block E'Twaun Moore's layup. It was a desperate, last-ditch block, not thundering, hardly powerful, but it did the trick. No, I won't let you within 15, it said, at least not on this possession. No matter how tired I might be. No matter...
MINNEAPOLIS Brandon Roy did not return from the locker room at halftime of the Timberwolves-Pacers game on Friday. The team announced in the third quarter that he is out for the night with a sore right knee.
Roy started the night strong, scoring six points in 15 minutes. He had one rebound and one assist, as well.
No further information has yet been provided, but look for updates...
MINNEAPOLIS When Portland selected Dante Cunningham with the 33rd pick in the 2009 NBA draft, it wasn't his first time playing for the Blazers.

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard J.J. Barea will miss at least two games with a sprained left foot.
The team made the announcement before Friday night's game against the Indiana Pacers. Barea was injured in the fourth quarter against Orlando on Wednesday when he lunged for a loose ball. He will not make the trip to Chicago for Saturday night's game and will be evaluated...
MINNEAPOLIS J.J. Barea will sit for Friday night's game against the Pacers at Target Center, and when the team flies out to Chicago afterward, Barea will remain behind.
The point guard suffered a left mid-foot sprain during the fourth quarter of Wednesday's win over Orlando, and for the past two days, the team has been vague about his status. It's still not clear when...
Luke Ridnour had 19 points and five rebounds, and Greg Stiemsma got the rout started with six straight points to end the third quarter in a 90-75 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night.
Stiemsma finished with 12 points and five rebounds, and Derrick Williams added 14 points and six boards for the Timberwolves, who are 3-1 for the first time since 2001. They led an ugly...

The Minnesota Timberwolves found themselves on the verge of a second consecutive loss before a big rally their last time out.

One day after falling 105...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Don't look now, but a week into the season, the Minnesota Timberwolves lead the Northwest Division -- even without injured stars Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. Minnesota improved to 3-1 with a 90-75 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday at Target Center. The Timberwolves are off to their best start since Kevin Garnett pushed them to a 6-0 record a decade...
