Chris Wilcox has a new lease on life and is supremely grateful to be alive after having heart surgery last season. However, his basketball career has been utterly frustrating since then. He had to watch as Boston just barely lost out to Miami in 7 games, knowing that his athleticism and energy could have been the difference. Then he missed almost all of training camp and the beginning of the season with back spasms. Once he returned, Chris provided an offensive spark due to alley-oop chemistry with Rondo. And just when things were looking up, Wilcox sprained his ulnar collateral ligament in his thumb. Once again, Chris is watching from the sidelines, and Boston is going through a horrendous 2-7 slump. The C's look bad at almost every facet of the game right now, but those easy buckets on alley-oops and face breaks are sorely missed, probably a significant reason why Rondo's assists are dropping (among many!).
