Found July 23, 2013 on Fox Sports:
Nerlens Noel was finally introduced to the media on Tuesday afternoon. He may not be introduced to the Philadelphia fans on the court until 2014. Noel was acquired by the 76ers in a draft night trade last month with the New Orleans Pelicans. Philadelphia acquired the rights to Noel and a first-round pick, which is top-five protected, for All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday and a second-round choice. Noel was projected by many as the No. 1 overall selection, but he may have dropped some slots after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in February. He played only 24 games for the University of Kentucky but was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.4 blocked shots and 2.1 steals in 32 minutes per game. Noel is uncertain of his return and is scheduled to visit a doctor Wednesday at the University of Pennsylvania. ''I'm doing six hours of rehab a day,'' Noel said, ''(and) I'm making a ...

Nerlens Noel uncertain of when he'll play for 76ers

First-year 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie said he's being methodical in his search for a new head coach, unconcerned that a dozen other NBA teams have already filled their coaching vacancies. Some may have other words to describe the protracted processes that have defined the beginning of his tenure in Philadelphia. Hinkie takes his time, whether hiring a coach, evaluating...

Charles Barkley Calls Philadelphia 76ers ‘a Joke’ for Not Hiring Coach Yet

The Philadelphia 76ers have not had a head coach since April 18, the day after they finished their 2012-13 season with a rare win and Doug Collins officially resigned. Since then, the Sixers have hired a new general manager, pulled off a stunning draft-day trade and gone all-in on tanking the upcoming season in hopes of landing the No. 1 pick in next year’s NBA draft. Yet 95 days...

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Nerlens Noel wisely won’t play ‘until around Christmas at the earliest’

Still recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee, writer Jason Wolf says Philadelphia 76ers rookie Nerlens Noel is expected to be sidelined “until around Christmas at the earliest.” Taken sixth overall in June’s draft out of Kentucky, the 19-year-old Noel underwent the knife to repair the damage on March 12. Although running and taking layups, new 76ers (34-48) general manager...

Nerlens Noel Situation To Close To Home For Sixers Fans

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia 76ers finally introduced Nerlens Noel to the local media and one of the pressing topics was the rookies timeline to play. Both Noel and general manager Sam Hinkie refrained from discussing an anticipated time frame for Noel’s return. “Nerlens is motivated and hungry to return, but his long-term health [...]The post Nerlens Noel Situation To...

Nerlens Noel Introduced, When Will Hinkie Hire a New Head Coach?

The Philadelphia 76ers like to work at a slow, deliberate, pace ever since Sam Hinkie became General Manager and Tuesday Nerlens Noel was finally introduced to the local media. Noel slipped to No. 6 in the draft as teams in spots 1-5 were concerned about his knee. Noel didn’t stay with the New Orleans [...]The post Nerlens Noel Introduced, When Will Hinkie Hire a New Head...

76ers’ Nerlens Noel unsure when he’ll be ready to play

Stop me when this sounds familiar; a Philadelphia 76ers’ big man returning from a significant injury is unsure of when he’ll be available to play for the team this season. No, Andrew Bynum isn’t back, but it looks like 76ers’ fans might have to once again be patient with a young center, as general manager Sam Hinkie told reporters that he’s unsure when Nerlens Noel will...

Could Philadelphia 76ers help Lakers ditch luxury tax?

If the Philadelphia 76ers are willing, the Lakers might have a way under the luxury tax and, more important, the repeater tax. The league currently levies a progressive tax that penalizes teams for every $5 million they spend on salary over the threshold of $71.7 million. The repeater tax, which won't start until the 2014-15 season, adds a dollar-for-dollar tax in addition...

Philly starts a #WinlessforWiggins Movement

Next season, the Philadephia 76ers are expected to be a very bad basketball team. Again.  Yet, in a surprising move by Philly’s hard to please fanbase, some Sixers fans have accepted their plight, and are embracing the downturn that the organization is currently enduring. Why?  Two words:  Andrew Wiggins.  Sixers fans believe purposefully tanking this season will result in...
