Oversized novelty checks are always a good time. Pictured above is Oklahoma City Thunder fan Heath Kufahl, just moments after he nailed a half court shot between the third and fourth quarter of Tuesday’s Thunder-Lakers game. For his Herculean efforts, Kufahl, the volleyball and boys basketball coach at Christian Heritage Academy in Oklahoma, won himself a cool $20,000, and the money couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. From the Oklahoman… It’s always cool to see someone make that shot, but for the Kufahls and their seven children, it means a bit more: Heath’s wife, Jenni, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in October of 2012. The money will be used for mounting medical bills. Here’s the amazing half-court shot in question… On top of paying for his wife’s cancer treatment, Kufahl also has seven kids he has to support, which makes that $20,000 windfall all that much more of a blessing for him and his entire family. Reports are saying that Jenni’s chemotherapy treatment has been going well, and not only has her current tumors shrunk, no new cancer has been found. Here’s hoping that she is well on her way to a full and speedy recovery.
