The Oklahoma City Thunder signed Daniel Orton to a non-guaranteed deal the team announced on Saturday. This is a follow-up to a recent post from the beginning of this offseason’s free agent frenzy. Before Oklahoma City’s roster had reached the 15-man limit, general manager was considering Orton along with Devin Ebanks and Roger Mason. With the roster already at full capacity, Orton’s contract is basically an invite to training camp. He will have to scratch and claw to crack the roster as he competes with newcomers Hasheem Thabeet and Hollis Thompson. Thabeet is considered to have the best shot of making the squad out of these three. The former second overall pick has not lived up to the hype to this point in his young career, but the Thunder’s impressive developmental staff may be able to reach some untapped potential.
