Found January 21, 2013 on Orlando Magic Daily:
We are officially one month away from the NBA's trade deadline -- February 21 at 3 p.m. ET. The rumors and the activity will increase dramatically in the next few weeks as Orlando tries to evaluate what it has and position itself for the future. This is a point I feel like I have been hammering in over and over again. It is still not 100 percent clear what Orlando is looking for. There are a lot of players on the roster the team likes, but the team has to think about the future. So while Glen Davis, Jameer Nelson and Arron Afflalo have embraced the attitude the Magic are trying to instill at this foundational stage, if a good deal comes along to dump their contracts and bring in some more versatile and younger players, they will take it. It seems highly doubtful that the Magic will find any takers for those veteran players at this juncture. Jameer Nelson still has another year guaranteed left on his deal. Arron Afflalo has three years guaranteed remaining. And Glen D...

J.J. Redick was inserted into the starting lineup Tuesday, and he was scorching hot, going 9-for-10 from the field, 5-for-6 from deep and 3-for-4 from the line for 26 points. He added two rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes. Redick is playing really well this season, averaging 14.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, .5 steals and .1 blocks with 89 3-pointers. Al Harrington is ready to help out Magic

Just six days after the Denver Nuggets lost in the first round of the playoffs last season, Al Harrington laid in a Denver hospital bed with an IV running to his heart, and his knee swelling by the minute. All season long, Harrington had been described as the key to Denvers success by head coach George Karl. On the court, the 13-year veteran provided the Nuggets with the wisdom...

POTD(s) 1/20 & 1/21: Moe Harkless and Damian Lillard

The day is quickly progressing from late afternoon to early evening, so let’s just knock these two posters out before tonight’s games begin, shall we?  Alright!  First up is Moe Harkless, who threw down a pair of third-quarter jams over the oft-yammed-on Chris Kaman on Sunday.  While neither two-handed mash is overly spectacular (and only one really constitutes what I consider...

Magic rally short again against Mavs

When the Magic play with the sense of desperation they played with when they were down by 10 points with about four minutes to play, they can be a pretty scary team to play. The effort that is already typically pretty high gets ratched higher with that extra level of focus. The problem is that the focus is not always there. Or not where it needs to be. And Dallas had the answers...

When does it become about development?

We are nearing the midway point of the season and largely the teams that are in playoff contention have sorted themselves out. In the next 41 games for Orlando, a lot is going to be determined. But seeing as the Magic are 2.5 games out of the final Playoff spot, the Magic are close enough to keep fighting but struggling enough to think about the future. A 14-26 record with losses...

Mavericks hold off late Magic surge in win

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Shawn Marion had 20 points, and O.J. Mayo and Vince Carter scored 15 apiece as the Dallas Mavericks fought off a late Orlando surge and beat the Magic 111-105 on Sunday night. The Mavericks led by 13 in the fourth quarter, before the Magic pulled within a basket in the final minute. Dallas earned its seventh straight road victory in its series against Orlando...

Magic-Pistons Preview

It's no secret the Orlando Magic have struggled defensively during their month-long malaise, but they've been particularly bad against teams with losing records. Perhaps facing the Detroit Pistons twice in the next six days will get them headed in the right direction. Orlando will try to avoid an eighth straight loss against a sub-.500 team on Tuesday night at The Palace...
