Magic Acquire Young Power Forward On Friday, the Orlando Magic acquired Brandon Bass from the Dallas Mavericks, a 6'8" power forward who can rebound, shoot effectively, and run the floor. The Magic and Bass agreed on a four-year, $18 million deal. Magic GM Otis Smith said that he chose Bass for his size, especially since the team has lost Tony Battie and his dominating presence. "He's got wide shoulders, and a wide body, and that's important to us," Smith said. However, Smith has noted that the team still lacks the size it needs to compete next season.   Gortat Comes with a Price The Dallas Mavericks have offered Marcin Gortat a five-year, $34 million deal, and it does not look like the Magic will match that offer.
