Miami Heat President Pat Riley was scheduled to hold a press conference on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, on Thursday night fans showed the Heat love at the American Airlines Arena during a scrimmage game. Season ticket holders were invited to see the sneakers hit the court for the first time since the NBA lockout. About 9,000 fans packed the arena, breathing a little easier after holding their breaths during the lockout battle, off the court.
"The NBA lockout's over and it's the best feeling ever," said relieved 13 year-old Jared Johnson.
"It killed us for a while, but now we're ready. We've got the best team in the league," Dan Theckson told NBC Miami.
The last time the Heat were on this court they exited the NBA finals--losing to the Dallas Mavericks. On Christmas Day, the heat will get their chance to prove themselves against the Mavericks, a game many are already anticipating.
