Athletic competition has become almost devoid of true patience. Basketball, in particular is generally a rampage of emotion and speed that can be quite overwhelming. Patience has become a lost art in the world of sports. It is the most important of the seven heavenly virtues. Patience is said to specifically oppose the vice of wrath. However, this is not something that is an exact science. There are many ways in which wrath can manifest itself through patience, but you didn't come here for a Middle Ages Psychomachia lesson; how does this relate to sports? Well, in an era and a sport where patience is so scarce, it has actually been the Boston Celtics' most valuable weapon in the Eastern Conference Finals and throughout these playoffs. What we commonly think of as toughness, "grit-and-balls" or the ability to withstand punches and runs is none other than that heavenly virtue of patience. Think about the Miami Heat and their superstars, LeBron James and Dwyane Wad...

Ray Allen, Paul Pierce Seal Deal As Celtics Continue Improbable Playoff Run With Game 5 Win Over Heat

Ray Allen had missed a lot of free throws, by his standards, in these playoffs. When he toed the free throw line with 13 seconds left in the game Tuesday, there really should have been some doubt as to whether the veteran guard would convert and clinch the Celtics' victory. Only there was no real doubt. Allen calmly drained both foul shots, just as he has throughout his career...

VIDEO: Game 5 GreenLights Celtics @ Heat

Tonight the Celtics have an amazing opportunity to eliminate the Miami Heat on the parquet floor and advance to the NBA Finals for the third time in the New Big Three Era.  It will be by no means an easy game but if the Celtics continue their inspired play from Game 5 with an out of control Garden crowd behind them, I like their chances.  So to help you get pumped for the game...

Rajon Rondo's Tip Pass to Mickael Pietrus Could Be Most Important Play of Series Thus Far (Video)

Rajon Rondo has had much flashier passes in the Eastern Conference Finals, but a fourth-quarter tip to Mickael Pietrus in Game 5 is his most important assist of the series thus far. The Celtics built a five-point lead a couple of minutes into the final frame on Tuesday night, but the Heat came roaring back to seize the lead and briefly control of the game. That momentum only seemed...

Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers Got Into A Scrum During Game 6

Tempers were high during Game 6 of the NBA Playoffs where Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers got into a little bit of a fight. Chalmers was guarding Allen pretty tight but didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. Allen retaliated by shoving Chalmers and getting in his face. Apparently the refs weren’t watching and decided to give Chalmers a technical foul for doing nothing but getting...

Paul Pierce Needs to Turn Back Clock in What Could Be Final Chapter of Rivalry With LeBron James

We've seen this before, right? LeBron James and Paul Pierce are once again going toe to toe on the front lines of a hard-fought battle, with the war culminating with a decisive Game 7 showdown. Our first taste of such came during the Celtics' 2008 championship run, when James was still a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Four years later, James has a new jersey, Pierce&...

Boston Celtics Up 3-2 In The Series, LeBron's Fourth Quarter Struggles Continue...

What do you know??  LeBron James swallowed his XVI mouth guard (not literally) when Paul Pierce banged a 3 point pointer in his grill with 53 seconds left that put Boston up 90-86. LeBron went 8 minutes WITHOUT SCORING in the 4th quarter!! I don't know about Miami fans, but I wouldn't expect that from a king. & check out Hitler's reaction to LeBrons fourth quarter...

The Boston Celtics are now one win away from the NBA Finals. After a 94-90 Game 5 win over the Miami Heat. The Celtics now have a 3-2 series lead. The Celtics were able to win on the road, led by Kevin Garnett's 26 points and 11 rebounds, Rajon Rondo's 13 assists, and a clutch 3-point dagger by Paul Pierce in the final minute. But the Heat boasted strong performances as well...
