Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics, Celtics News, State Of The Celtics
Paul Pierce is apparently still suffering from a right heel injury that first acted up at the beginning of training camp and he won't play in the Celtics' final preseason game against Toronto on Wednesday. Doc Rivers commented on Pierce's injury.

"I'm concerned," Doc Rivers said on Tuesday. "I'm not concerned long-term, but I am concerned short term."

Oh, goody gumdrops. So it doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement that Pierce will be out there Christmas Day. Pierce is questionable at best and his primary backup in Jeff Green is out for the season—and the season hasn't even tipped off yet. Fantastic.

Jeff Green's Absence a Huge Blow to Celtics, Will Force Doc Rivers to Get Creative

With the unfortunate news that Jeff Green will miss the entire 2011-12 season because of a serious heart condition, it's difficult to ignore the fact that the injury is a major blow to the Celtics. Obviously, Green's health is far and away the most important aspect of the latest development. Any injury is serious, but a heart condition is particularly alarming, and it'...

Doc Rivers loves Keyon Dooling

Doc Rivers has quickly developed quite an affinity for Keyon Dooling, the Celtics’ smile-happy, mediocre backup point guard with a penchant for making the right play. (Boston Herald)“I love him,” Rivers said. “I love him. I think we couldn’t have picked a better guy to back up (Rajon) Rondo — with his spirit, his knowledge, being a veteran, the fact he can make open...

Paul Pierce Doubtful for Season Opener?

Paul Pierce’s injured right heel may keep him on the sidelines for the Boston Celtics’ season opener. From the Boston Herald: “Paul Pierce had hoped to participate in practice [Tuesday] and play in [Wednesday] night’s preseason game against the Raptors. But now there are doubts as to whether he’ll be able to go against the Knicks on Christmas Day. Pierce’s bruised right...

Doc Rivers Wants Rajon Rondo to Take More Shots

In many ways, the Boston Celtics will only go as far as Rajon Rondo can taken them in 2012, and according to head coach Doc Rivers, that means the point guard has to shoot the ball more. From WEEI: “While Jermaine O’Neal was off getting his in-game massage, Doc Rivers was making the following observation about Rajon Rondo: the Celtics need him to shoot and score if they are...

No salary break for Celtics

Because the Celtics are a luxury-tax team, they do not receive salary-cap breaks with Jeff Green’s contract voided, meaning Danny Ainge has only minimum contracts to upgrade the roster.

Tuesday's Notes

Paul Pierce is dealing with a heel injury that could make him miss the team’s season opener. Normally this would be a huge concern but the start of the NBA season is upon us and Pierce hasn’t player in two preseason games now and couldn’t finish practice Monday. Heel injuries tend to linger and at 34, it’s probably wise to bump him down a few notches on your draft sheet....

Being realistic doesn't make you a bad fan

"These guys are bad fans" I want to start off by saying that upon second review, my Potomac River video could have been a lot better and maybe I did deserve to capsize (great comment).  My mom gave me crap for it last  night and I completely agree with her. I promise to do better. If anyone is in the DC area and wants to come out on the river and discuss the...

First Cup: Thursday

Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News: The Celtics might come into the Garden on Christmas Day without a hobbled Paul Pierce. Later on that day, Kobe Bryant could be sitting out with a wrist injury when the Lakers host the Bulls. Obviously, this is not the kind of news David Stern needs, only four days before the NBA opens another lockout-shortened season. But as Celtics coach...
