Found January 22, 2013 on Orlando Magic Daily:
The signs were there that the game stood on the edge for either team with Detroit heading to the locker room up two points at halftime. The Pistons were not shooting the ball well and were giving up 3-pointers left and right to a strong-shooting Magic team. The Magic were giving up offensive rebounds and getting beat in transition after committing turnovers. Not to mention the usual pick and roll defense problems that have allowed guards free reign into the paint. The game probably did not tip in favor of the Pistons on the play that ended the first half. But it was certainly a clue which way it would go. {youtube}0iBMDpUkO8w{/youtube} Jameer Nelson was very clearly fouled -- intentionally -- on the final possession of the half and he went up for a shot. The referee kept his whistle in his pocket and Detroit was off to the races. It finished with an Andre Drummond dunk and that Pistons lead. Nelson stayed to argue and explain for a while. The Magic hung around fo...

Glen Davis upset about missing PB&J sandwich

Magic forward Glen Davis didn’t get his nickname from being scrawny. Before Tuesday’s game with the Pistons, “Big Baby” went searching for his pre-game peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which apparently was supposed to be made by rookie Andrew Nicholson. Davis interrupted an interview Nicholson was having with Fox Sports Detroit’s Justin White to interrogate.  He was disgusted...

Magic have much to take away from 1st half

There is no room for moral victories in the NBA. There are no almosts, no what ifs, no stat lines for nice tries. There are only wins and losses. In the first 41 games of the regular season, the Orlando Magic have lost 13 more games than theyve won. Their 14-27 record includes some highs, such as beating both the Clippers, who have the third-best record in the league, and the...

One month until trade deadline

We are officially one month away from the NBA's trade deadline -- February 21 at 3 p.m. ET. The rumors and the activity will increase dramatically in the next few weeks as Orlando tries to evaluate what it has and position itself for the future. This is a point I feel like I have been hammering in over and over again. It is still not 100 percent clear what Orlando is...

J.J. Redick scorching hot in loss, scores 26 with five threes

J.J. Redick was inserted into the starting lineup Tuesday, and he was scorching hot, going 9-for-10 from the field, 5-for-6 from deep and 3-for-4 from the line for 26 points. He added two rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes. Redick is playing really well this season, averaging 14.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, .5 steals and .1 blocks with 89 3-pointers. Arron...

Pistons 105, Magic 90

Jason Maxiell, Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe combined for 38 points and 28 rebounds, and the Detroit Pistons pulled away to beat the undersized Orlando Magic 105-90 Tuesday night. Brandon Knight led Detroit with 18 points, while Monroe scored 16 and Drummond and Maxiell each had 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Pistons also finished with a 16-6 edge in offensive rebounds against...

Magic outmusculed in loss to Pistons

AUBURN HILS, Mich. (AP) -- Jason Maxiell, Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe combined for 38 points and 28 rebounds, and the Detroit Pistons pulled away to beat the undersized Orlando Magic 105-90 Tuesday night. Brandon Knight led Detroit with 18 points, while Monroe scored 16 and Drummond and Maxiell each had 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Pistons also finished with a 16-6 edge in...

When does it become about development?

We are nearing the midway point of the season and largely the teams that are in playoff contention have sorted themselves out. In the next 41 games for Orlando, a lot is going to be determined. But seeing as the Magic are 2.5 games out of the final Playoff spot, the Magic are close enough to keep fighting but struggling enough to think about the future. A 14-26 record with losses...

Big Baby Interrupts Rookies Interview To Demand Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich (video)

As we constantly remind folks on here, Glen Big Baby Davis is a different type of cat.  Orlando Magic rookie Andrew Nicholson was giving Fox Sports an interview when Davis interrupted to remind him of something. See Nicholson is a rookie, and in professional sports leagues, rookies go through some sort of hazing whether it be carrying bags, getting breakfast, or in Nicholson’s...

Orlando Magic Continue Downward Spiral

The Orlando Magic (14-27) continued their downward spiral last night against the Detroit Pistons (16-25). The Magic were absolutely manhandled in the paint by Greg Monroe, Jason Maxiel, and rookie Andre Drummond. The Piston big men led the way by out-rebounding the Magic 54-41. The Magic were very much in the game until the third quarter when things got out of control. At the end...

What's with the Pistons bizarre continued domination of the Celtics?

Greg Monroe (middle) loves playing the Celtics. It's been more than a year since the Celtics beat the Pistons.  On December 30th, 2011 Boston knocked off Detroit 96-85 in their first game at the Garden last season.  Since that day the Pistons are 36-63 against all other teams in the NBA combined, but 4-0 vs. Boston.  In fact, in those four games the Celtics have never even...

Magic vs Raptors: Predictions

When the Orlando Magic (14-27) and Toronto Raptors (15-27) meet tonight at 7 p.m. EST, it will be their final matchup of the season. Toronto leads the season series 3-0. In fact, the Magic's 2-14 run began with a loss to the Raptors on December 21st. Tonight, the Magic will need to control the boards and trust their defensive rotations to keep the Raptors' guards from getting...

Magic-Pistons Preview

It's no secret the Orlando Magic have struggled defensively during their month-long malaise, but they've been particularly bad against teams with losing records. Perhaps facing the Detroit Pistons twice in the next six days will get them headed in the right direction. Orlando will try to avoid an eighth straight loss against a sub-.500 team on Tuesday night at The Palace...
