AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The Detroit Pistons don't have a go-to scorer. What they do possess is an unquestioned veteran leader, forward Tayshaun Prince. When they got in trouble Sunday night, Prince came to the rescue. Prince scored a team-high 20 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 10.9 seconds remaining, as the Pistons edged the Milwaukee Bucks 96-94 at The Palace. Prince also made a jump hook in the final minute after the Bucks took their only lead. "He has a calming presence," Detroit coach Lawrence Frank said. "He's been in that situation more than anyone on our team. We've got trust in all our guys, but Tay has a very, very calming presence on the floor." Prince reached double figures for the 25th time in 33 games this season. The 20-point night was his second-biggest output, which made him the primary option down the stretch. "I had a good rhythm down there," the 11th-year veteran said. "It's just one of tho...

Pistons blow lead but hold on to beat Bucks

Despite blowing a double digit lead in the fourth the Pistons held on to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 96-94 Sunday night from The Palace. Perhaps still on a high from Friday night’s victory over the world champion Miami Heat, Detroit had had to rely on two late free throws by Tayshaun Prince to seal the victory, the Pistons’ fourth in the last five games. Closing out games has...

Assorted Observations: What’s Gotten Into Will Bynum?

***In 22 appearances, Will Bynum has a total of 164 points this season.  About a third of these points have been scored in the two games his Pistons have played since Christmas.  On Wednesday, Bynum and his season-high 31 spearheaded a Detroit bench attack that racked up 85 points in a double-overtime loss to the Hawks.  As impressive as Bynum was, Jeff Teague stole the show down...

POTD 12/28/12: Tayshaun Prince on Chris Bosh

Terrence Ross has regularly been wowing us with his athleticism for weeks now, and just last night he threw down one of the nastiest poster dunks of the season.  Unfortunately, it didn’t count.  Just before the would-be victim, Jason Smith, could jump to contest the jam, Amir Johnson held his arm.  The foul was subtle, but the officials caught it and a whistle was blown, negating...

After consecutive wins over a pair of first-place teams, the Detroit Pistons are beginning to play with some confidence on their home floor. The short-handed Sacramento Kings have also turned it around at home, but they've been woeful on the road as they begin a four-game trip. The Pistons seek their fourth straight victory at The Palace on Tuesday night when they open 2013...
