Los Angeles Lakers
OK, Internet. This is your time. Less than one full week remains before the NBA trade deadline, and now is the time when all semblance of sanity flies out of the window. So-called âanonymous sourcesâ are about to work overtime.
Even by the usual crazy standards of trade deadline season, though, Fridayâs report that the Celtics and Lakers had engaged in preliminary talks for a swap of Rajon Rondo for Dwight Howard caused tremors. The possibility of the two biggest rivals in the game exchanging their best players under the age of 30 is a shocking development, even if Rondo is out for the season with a torn ligament in his right knee and Howard has played well below his capabilities all season.
So, go crazy with this one. Shut down the servers that support the ESPN Trade Machine and tweet your availability either to drive Rondo to the airport or to drive Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge off a pier, depending on how this trade sounds to the diehards. Just keep in m...

As the trade deadline looms, the Celtics' future is uncertain. In the wake of Rajon Rondo's ACL tear and the announcement that he would be done for the season, many presumed that the Celtics were done for the season. Many said the team should blow it up and start to rebuild.
Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was not among those doubters. Rivers said to the media in a...
The Dwight Howard era in Los Angeles hasn't exactly started off as expected. There's been nothing but drama, infighting, rumors and a lot of losing too.
There's been speculation that the Lakers could try to move Howard, with all of the aforementioned things seemingly likely to keep him from signing an extension with the storied Los Angeles franchise. Those have been...
The traveling circus known as the Lakers hit All-Star weekend. Center Dwight Howard was hit with a barrage of questions about his future.
"(The Lakers) told me they weren't going to trade me," Howard said. "That's what (General Manager) Mitch (Kupchak) said."
Howard was acquired by the Lakers in the off-season from the Orlando Magic. He'll be a free...
Ken Berger of CBS Sports has this blockbuster report:
However, CBSSports.com has learned that the Lakers have engaged in preliminary trade discussions with an unlikely trade partner regarding Howard: their fierce rival, the Boston Celtics. The centerpieces of the possible deal, which hasnât gained any traction, would be Howard and Rajon Rondo.
The imagination runs rampant with...
The Boston Celtics have two guards with torn ACLs. Â They received updates on both. Â Fortunately, the news on Rajon Rondo's knee is positive. Â However, Leandro Barbosa who tore his ACL just a couple days ago, did not get quite as encouraging news.According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Rondo's knee surgery went well.Danny Ainge tells Globe Rondo underwent ACL...
Dwight Howard says he be surprised if he is traded by next weekâs deadline because Lakersâ GM, Mitch Kupchak told him he will not be traded.
According to NBA TV:
Reporter: Would you be surprised if the Lakers traded you?
Dwight Howard: Would I be surprised? They told me they werenât going to trade me, thatâs what Mitch said, so I would be surprised.
Rajon Rondo underwent successful surgery to repair his "torn" ACL this past Tuesday, and there is already talk about him making a quick return. Doc Rivers spoke with the media about Rondo, and joked that he could possibly make a quick return like NFL player Adrian Peterson. Rondo chose to have his knee operated on by the same surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, that worked on Peterson...
The Celtics are conducting âÂÂpreliminary
talksâ with the Los Angeles Lakers about swapping
Rajon Rondo for Dwight Howard, according to
CBSSports.comâÂÂs Ken Berger. While Berger points
out that the deal âÂÂhasnâÂÂt gained
any traction,â it seems like, at the very least,
the Lakers and Celtics are talking about the possibility of trading
two of their biggest stars.
The Lakers might want to start taking some of these ârumorsâ seriously. You may not agree with Stephen A. Smith on 1st Take, but he isnât prone to just making up stuff he doesnât believe in true.
No Guts, No Glory tracked down this audio from Stephen A. saying that Dwight Howard told Rudy Gay he is going to be in Brooklyn next year.
Here is the exact quote from Stephen A...
As of late, the injury gods have not been kind to the Celtics. First Rajon Rondo is gone for the season with a torn ACL along with Jared Sullinger who has a bad back and needs surgery. Now, less than a month later itâs Leandro Barbosa, also with a torn ACL, and Paul Pierce with a pinched nerve.
Luckily, these injuries have not seemed to heavily impact the success of the team so...
The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly engaged in preliminary trade discussions with the Boston Celtics in regard of players Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo, which Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak denied.
Ken Berger first reportedÂ
Although it hasnât exactly slowed them down, the injury bug struck again in Boston, as Leandro Barbosa became the latest in a disconcertingly long line of Celtics who will miss the remainder of the 2012-13 campaign with an injury. Will it be enough to slow the momentum the franchise has built over the course of the past few weeks, gaining traction in the Eastern Conference and...
