I was reading over the various basketball blogs, as I do each morning, and came across some positive Toronto Raptors news. Total Pro Sports had a post on the best 12 court designs in the NBA. As someone who watches a lot of Raptors ball, I knew their court had to be on the list, and it was. Why, well the colors are clean and despite them saying they don’t like the grey claw, I think it looks better this year. Oh and the optical illusion is a big hit. However, the Raptors made one change to their court this year that gets them on this list, and that is the awesome tromp l’oeil—a fancy French term for “optical illusion”—lettering at the ends of the court. You see, when you watch on TV, it looks like there’s a placard that says “Raptors” at each baseline. In reality, it’s just a fancy 3D paint job that creates the illusion of placards. Which is awesome. What do you think of their top 12? Did they miss any? I wonder who has the worst court design? addthis_url = 'http%3A...

Smith, Johnson push Hawks past Raptors

ATLANTA (AP) -- Josh Smith scored 28 points and pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds and Joe Johnson added 27 points to help the Atlanta Hawks win their third straight game with a 93-84 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Monday. Leandro Barbosa finished with 22 points in a reserve role for Toronto, which has lost five straight. Toronto was without center Andrea Bargnani, the...

Andrea Bargnani gets the Kanye treatment

Check out this clip of Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani's All-Star anthem from The Basketball Jones. It is pretty funny parody of Kanye West's song "Power." Bargnani, who is seeking his first All-Star selection, is ninth in the league in scoring with a 22.3 average this season.

Raptors Post Game Report Card: Toronto Drops 5th Straight to Atlanta Hawks

On the Martin Luther King day classic against the Atlanta Hawks, the Toronto Raptors dropped their fifth straight game, falling 93-84. Once again the Raps hung around the whole game, but couldn’t come through in crunch time. It seems to be a reoccurring pattern with this team. They stick around for 3 quarters, and can’t keep up down the stretch. Once again, the team was...

Video: Andrea Bargnani’s underground All-Star anthem

Brilliant. We told you Andrea Bargnani is having a career year in Toronto (which, along with the Raptors improved defense, should have people using the words “Dwane Casey” and “coach of the year” in the same sentence). He’s actually defending as well as giving Toronto 22 points a game, and he’s doing it more efficiently…

Video: Andrea Bargnani carbo-loads his way to the All-Star Game

We had to take most of Tuesday off, so we missed out on bringing you this bit of brilliance that combines the minds of The Basketball Jones, Kanye West, King Crimson, strangely English-y pasta adverts, and the burgeoning All-Star campaign for Toronto Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani. Hey-oh:

Andrea Bargnani Power x Pasta Anthem

If I had an All-Star vote, I would never vote for Andrea Bargnani, even if the Mayan calendar gave us more time. Bastards! Yet somehow with the cold hand of the Apocalypse on our shoulder. The Basketball Jones has me rethinking what I would do with my imaginary vote, based on this Kanye West remix of Power and they also have me hungry for Primo pasta at the same time. How diabolical!

NBA Geography Lesson

Fantastic map! However, it brings about two questions. 1. Where are the Toronto Raptors? Can we get The Basketball Jones in here to solve this? 2. Can we figure out a team for that area in question? Clearly they have to choose between Portland, Denver and Minnesota right? If I lived in that area I would pick the Trail Blazers. Props to Stephen Litel for posting on Facebook.
