New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, who just dropped 62 points at Madison Square Garden, has said he will opt out of the final year of his contract after this season and become a free agent. The Knicks can offer Anthony a maximum five-year deal worth roughly $129 million.  The most another team can pay him is four years and about $96 million. Anthony knows those options, and if he does decide to leave New York, Adrian Wojnarowski at Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Knicks forward could be leaning towards playing in Chicago over Los Angeles. The losing, the decaying roster, has inspired ‘Melo to consider closely the possibilities of free agency this summer. WIthin the past several weeks, a longtime confidant of Carmelo Anthony confesses, something changed. Never did he believe there was a chance Anthony would leave the New York Knicks – never the Madison Square Garden stage, never the $129 million contract extension. Only now, the gloom of the Knicks’ season – the

Mike D’Antoni On Carmelo Anthony: We Are Not Pen Pals

The Carmelo Anthony to L.A. Lakers rumors have slowed down, and come to a realistic halt because of the elephant in the room. Say what you want about Anthony and Kobe Bryant forming a potent 1-2 punch.   That duo will never play together in L.A. as long as Mike D’Antoni is the head coach. D’Antoni and Anthony reportedly have a frosty relationship, one that is still so bad, that...

La La: Melo will stay with Knicks

La La Anthony "definitely" thinks her husband, free-agent-to-be Carmelo Anthony, will re-sign with the New York Knicks this summer. "I definitely think he will stay," La La Anthony said in an interview with Bravo TV's "Watch What Happens Live." "I know that he wants to stay, and I support him wherever he wants to go. "Listen, I used to...

La La Anthony: Carmelo will stay in New York, doesn’t have pregame sex

La La Anthony said during an interview with Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” Sunday that her husband, Carmelo Anthony, will remain in New York with the Knicks. She also revealed that the two do not have pregame sex because she says ‘Melo plays worse when they do. “I definitely think he will stay [in New […]

Carmelo Anthony Prefers the Chicago Bulls In Free Agency Over The Lakers

Despite having arguably the best game of his career, the latest Carmelo Anthony buzz involves his future. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, a close source to Anthony said that he would prefer Chicago as a destination over Los Angeles. “Chicago is much more in play for […]The post Carmelo Anthony Prefers the Chicago Bulls In Free Agency Over The Lakers appeared first on The League News.

Former NBA player Rick Fox not impressed with Carmelo Anthony

There’s no doubt, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony had a night to remember on Friday evening when he went for 62-points in Madison Square. It’s the highest point total we’ve seen scored in the NBA this season and a relatively lofty number in general. It’s not often somebody puts up 60-plus points in regulation. But of course, there’s always a hater in the crowd...

QOTD: Why Should Carmelo Anthony Stay In New York?

The majority of this NBA season I have been sitting from afar, watching, listening and taking in criticism of my New York Knickerbockers from the adamantium bleachers. Watching my team play has been frustrating. It doesn’t look like the Knicks have a ton of skill most nights, and their successes have been few and far […]The post QOTD: Why Should Carmelo Anthony Stay In New York...

Melo Beats Down the Bobcats with Knicks Record 62 Points

Carmelo Anthony was on fire Friday night and could not be stopped.  We all know he's one of the league's top scorers but when you bang out 60+ points in a game then you rise to a level that very few have touched in the history of the NBA.  Only 21 other players in the history of professional basketball have scored 60 points or more in a single game.  Many did it multiple...

Video: Here’s Every Field Goal Carmelo Hit During His 62-Point Performance

Simply put, Carmelo Anthony had it going last night. The New York Knicks superstar poured in 62 points on 23-of-35 shooting to set both a franchise record and an MSG record for scoring. To celebrate the accomplishment, the NBA has put together a video that shows every field goal that Melo hit during the affair – the only points not included were his free throws. Had the game not...

Idan Ravin is no longer with the Knicks

Recall that the Knicks hired Ravin-- personal trainer to not just Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith but a bunch of NBA stars over the years-- in October. He could frequently be spotted behind the Knicks' bench during games (once you realized it wasn't Zydrunas Ilgauskas). I have no idea exactly what Radin's role was, but it was a little weird that the Knicks just subsumed...

Carmelo Anthony: Shot Chart From 62-Point Performance Is Ridiculous

Carmelo Anthony’s 62-point performance last night against the Charlotte Bobcats was one for the record books. Melo broke Bernard King’s record for most points ever scored in a game by a Knick and he also broke Kobe Bryant’s Madison Square Garden scoring record. To put it simply, Carmelo was ON FIRE last night, and the shot chart proves it. He shot 23/36 from the floor, 6/11...

Video: Watch all of Carmelo Anthony’s 62 Points in 3 Minutes

Last night, Carmelo Anthony set the Knicks franchise record with 62-points vs. the Bobcats. Melo was 25-35 shooting which is absolutely remarkable. Here is every one of his baskets condensed into roughly 3 minutes:

Carmelo-to-Bulls rumors don’t distract Thibs’ guys

Another day, another rumor. The latest is the Bulls being a serious contender to land forward Carmelo Anthony. Anthony is rumored to be opting out of his deal with the Knicks, and the growing speculation is that he wants to play for coach Tom Thibodeau. The Bulls won’t let the rumors distract them. “They’ve gotten used to you guys,’’ Thibodeau said sarcastically on...

Knicks 110, Lakers 103: Game Recap

In this season of streaks, the Knicks may soon find themselves on yet another one. On Sunday, off the heels of Carmelo Anthony’s 62-point performance, the Knicks defeated another disappointing, high profile opponent, the Los Angeles Lakers. While Anthony, reasonably, didn’t reach the heights he did on Friday, he still racked up a game-high 35 points to raise his 2-game total...

Forbes: Knicks most valuable franchise

There is not a lot to cheer about right now if you are a Knicks fan. The team is cratering after last year's second seed and playoff series victory. There are questions about Carmelo Anthony's future with the organization. And the team is stuck with few assets to wriggle their way out. The Knicks future, in other words, does not look bright. At least on the court. According...
