Jerry Sloan has been out of coaching since 2011, when he resigned in the middle of his 23rd season as head coach of the Utah Jazz. At the time of his resignation, he was the longest-tenured head coach in major American pro sports, but despite his name coming up in numerous rumors since then, Sloan so far has not found a job on another team’s bench. That could soon change. The Milwaukee Bucks reportedly consider Sloan a “serious candidate” for their head coaching gig, making the Bucks the fourth team in the last two years to be connected with the 71-year-old coach. Sloan would replace interim coach Jim Boylan, who took over after Scott Skiles and the team parted ways in January. Sloan’s 1,221 career coaching wins are the third-most in NBA history. He coached the Jazz to two NBA Finals and six Western Conference Finals, most recently in 2007 with Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer.
