The New York Knicks could trade Iman Shumpert sooner rather than later, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com. More and more folks around the league see some sort of Shumpert deal materializing sooner rather than later, given that he’s New York’s only real asset of value to make an in-season move and with the Knicks increasingly confident that they’ve got enough at the position to handle Shumpert’s exit now that J.R. Smith is back and with rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. looking good early. Word is that the Nuggets do have a level interest — just not if the Knicks keep asking them to part with Kenneth Faried in exchange — while Sacramento is also said to be gauging how Shumpert might fit in. The reality, though, is that the Knicks had no chance of getting the Nuggets interested in a

Carmelo Anthony blasts Knicks for lack of effort

Following the New York Knicks 110-90 loss to the Atlanta Hawks Saturday, Carmelo Anthony said the team looked as if they are not even trying. “We ain’t playing worth a s— right now,” Anthony said, via ESPNNewYork.com. “We got to play harder. “I am disappointed too in all of our effort. We are just not getting it done. It ain’t nothing that Coach [Mike] Woodson is doing...

Report: Nuggets Reject Knicks Iman Shumpert Offer

It was reported earlier that Denver and New York were discussing a Kenneth Faried-Iman Shumpert swap. Come to find out, Denver has no interest in Iman Shumpert. Denver has made it clear to Kenneth Faried's reps: There are no active talks involving him. Knicks offered Shumpert. Denver rejected idea. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) November 13, 2013 New York needs more size...

Another ‘terrible’ game from J.R. Smith

The calendar says November. But it certainly looks like last May for the Knicks J.R. Smith. Smith, in his fourth game back from an NBA-imposed five game suspension after a rehab for offseason knee surgery, shot Saturday as if the Hawks were the smothering Pacers of last season’s playoffs. When Smith finally exited with 3:41 left in the Hawks 110-90 wipeout victory, he wore a...

Mike Woodson: JR Smith's behavior is 'ridiculous'

The latest in the saga that is JR Smith’s life was him threatening Pistons G Brandon Jennings on Twitter. Subsequently he was fined by the NBA, but this kind of behavior isn’t anything new from JR. CBS Sports is reporting that even Knicks Coach Mike Woodson has reached a ceiling. Mike Woodson was “not happy” with J.R. Smith for his tweets directed at Pistons guard Brandon...

J.R. Smith, Brandon Jennings have Twitter beef over Smith's brother

The New York Knicks have been talked about for all the wrong reasons so far this year. One of those reasons has centered around the Knicks brass deciding to keep J.R. Smith‘s younger brother, Chris. Many NBA aficionados believe that this was a “handshake” deal when the Knicks were in negotiations to bring back J.R. last summer. Regardless of the reason, Chris is on the team...

Carmelo Disappointed In Knicks' Effort

Carmelo Anthony expressed his frustration as the New York Knicks lost 110-90 to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, which was their fifth straight loss at Madison Square Garden. "We ain't playing worth a s--- right now," Anthony said. "We got to play harder. "I am disappointed too in all of our effort. We are just not getting it done. It ain't nothing that...

Carmelo Anthony falls victim to the new ‘Hack-a-Dwight’ rule

Dwight Howard is terrible at free throws. You know it, Dwight knows it, even the league knows it. That’s why the NBA decided to create a rule that would reduce how many times Howard, a career 57.6% shooter, would make it to the charity stripe. When put that way it seems ludicrous, but it’s actually rather brilliant. It’s filed under the NBA rule-book as an ‘away-from-the...

Game Recap: Hawks Hand Knicks Fifth Home Loss This Season

The Atlanta Hawks beat the New York Knicks by a final score of 110-90 at Madison Square Garden. The game was relatively close until the fourth quarter, but the Knicks continued to let the Hawks penetrate the lane for easy finishes at the basket. When they weren’t finishing at the rim,  the Hawks jump shooters frequently found themselves open thanks in part to the Knicks lack...

Report: Kings Have Interest In Iman Shumpert

I’m not necessarily sure how true this rumor can be, seeing as the Sacramento Kings just drafted Ben McLemore to play shooting guard. With J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. at shooting guard, the Knicks believe the time is now to cash in on Iman Shumpert’s value. Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that the Kings indeed have interest in Shumpert. More and more folks around the league...

NBA Exec on Melo: "'Robin' on a championship team instead of 'Batman'"

ESPN’s Chris Broussard spoke with several league executives about Carmelo Anthony. (Taking journalism lessons from Joel Sherman or Manish Mehta.) One executive compared Melo to Stephon Marbury. Another? To Robin.“He’s probably Robin on a championship team instead of Batman. He has Batman talent, but the intangibles are missing.”“He’s not a winner.”Ouch. [BSO]**Follow...

Brandon Jennings & JR Smith have Twitter beef

Pistons guard Brandon Jennings took to Twitter Wednesday night to question why JR Smith’s brother Chris is on the Knicks roster. Jennings like many Knicks fans doesn’t see the value, especially considering that some of Jennings friends from LA that he feels are NBA quality are playing overseas. Of course Jennings deleted the tweet but, JR Smith didn’t take to kindly to this...

Knicks Lose Again, and It Got Ugly!

By Max Marcilla Boxscore Knicks 90 Hawks 110 The Knicks lost their fifth straight game at home in an ugly 110-90 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Summary: The Knicks played okay all game. They had some bright spots and moments, and they also had some struggles. Tonight, once again, even though the Knicks didn’t necessarily deserve a chance, they did have a chance. In the fourth quarter...

Carmelo Anthony wins the scoring battle, but James Harden wins the war on Day 17

The Beard is greater than Melo. HOUSTON 109, NEW YORK 106 Best Boxes: James Harden was a game-time decision heading into Thursday's showdown with the Knicks. So of course the Beard blew up for 36 points (9-of-17 shots with two 3-pointers and a humongous 16-of-18 from the charity stripe), nine rebounds, two assists and a steal in 42 minutes. Lock him into your lineup...

Fantasy Basketball – Add/Drop Guide- 11/15/13

A fine line exists between panic and foresight. You either strike gold or fall on your face when you make an acquisition based on a small sample size, but that’s what makes fantasy sports so intoxicating. Owners struck gold with Michael Carter-Williams on the first day of the season, leaving hope there are fantasy stars out there on the waiver wire. As the search continues, here...

Mike Woodson On J.R. Smith’s Twitter Fine: ‘Eventually No Team Is Going To Want To Deal With You’

Knicks coach Mike Woodson was not happy, to say the least, of J.R. Smith’s latest incident that cost him $25,000.  Woodson’s response to Smith being fined for his hostile tweets directed at Brandon Jennings was blunt, “eventually no team is going to want to deal with you.” According to Al Iannazzone of Newsday:  Knicks coach Mike Woodson said on ESPN New York 98.7 FM...
