According to the Boston Globe, Monta Ellis is “expected to reject” his $11 million player option for next season and become an unrestricted free agent. If the Bucks keep both Ellis and Brandon Jennings through the deadline, the Bucks are going to be an interesting team to watch in the offseason. Jennings will be a restricted free agent, while Ellis could become an unrestricted free agent. GM John Hammond has stated the Bucks would like to keep the duo together, but that may have just been typical front office lip service. Keep an eye on Milwaukee through Thursday’s trade deadline.
Per Boston Globe:
It’s almost a given that Brandon Jennings will explore free agency after the Bucks passed on an opportunity to sign him to an extension last summer. Jennings has exceeded expectations during his four years in the NBA but can still be wildly inconsistent with his 3-point shooting and decision-making. The Milwaukee Bucks have the assets to make a major trade. The Bucks have a lot of assets -- Monta Ellis, Brandon Jennings, Ersan Ilyasova and a ridiculous number of expiring contracts -- to get a deal done. One of those assets, Ellis, has piqued the curiosity of the Atlanta Hawks, who are more and more likely to move star forward Josh Smith.

Josh Smith reportedly would like to play with both Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings.
Brandon Jennings wants out, but he’s a restricted free agent next summer. So he’s got less room to move, as opposed to Monta Ellis. Ellis may very well leave $11 mil on the table in order to become a free agent next season. This is huge, and best believe Ellis can be a legitimate contributor to a true contender next season. The Bucks are on the verge of losing their anchors.
The Milwaukee Bucks have the assets to possibly intrigue the Atlanta Hawks into parting with Josh Smith. The question is whether J-Smoove would be interested in playing in Milwaukee or if it'd be a half-season rental.
The Racine Journal Times reported that "there are whispers" that the Bucks are interested in Smith. And the offer could be pretty good one.
