The NBA's return to Seattle is less than a year away. Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the sale of the Sacramento Kings to a Seattle ownership group will lead "the NBA's relocation committee will unanimously ratify the franchise's move to Seattle for the 2013-14 season." Seattle Billion Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer reportedly reached a $525 million agreement to buy a 65 percent stake in the Kings. And, as expected, they'll file to move the team by the March deadline. As Woj previously reported, the team will play two seasons in KeyArena before moving into a new arena in 2015. Ironically, the NBA's relocation committee is led by Oklahoma City Thunder owner Clay Bennett, who moved the Sonics to OKC in 2008. Pro Basketball Talk reported Sunday that Sacramento will get a chance to convince the NBA's Board of Governors to keep the franchise in Seattle. However, Wojnarowski, citing an unnamed source, reported that the "Board of Governors support this ownership group, want a team back in the Seattle market and will approve the sale at the next league meeting." It's increasingly sounding like the bad news is here for the Cowbell Kingdom. UPDATE: Pro Basketball Talk's Aaron Bruski says there's still hope for Sacramento, via Twitter: "Seeing reports that Sacramento was "too late." Those reports are uninformed or misguided. SAC is comfortably operating." If this is all true, the Sonics are back.
