San Antonio Spurs
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Brett Brown has been interviewed by the Denver Nuggets for their vacant head coaching position.
San Antonio Spurs assistant Brett Brown has emerged as a serious candidate for the Denver Nuggets' head-coaching job, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Brown traveled to Denver and met with Nuggets CEO Josh Kroenke and general manager Tim Connelly on Sunday night.
As Mike Budenholzer ventures off to coach the Atlanta Hawks, Brown and Ime Udoka are the current assistant coaches under Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, who just took his team to the Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals in back-to-back seasons.
On Saturday, a report was released stating former Spur Fabricio Oberto could possibly join the coaching circle under Popovich if he decided to retire from basketball professionally overseas.
As for Brown, he’s shown to be a successful coach with both NBA players and top international stars under his command. He’s been the Australian National team head coach for several seasons and last year in the London Olympics his team went 3-2 in tournament play and was eventually knocked out of the tournament in the first round by the eventual Gold Medal team, the United States.
Brown’s influence on the Spurs has led them to put towel-waving Patty Mills in their lineup, and in this past season, during the year, the Spurs signed center Aron Baynes who still has potential to grow and learn in the coming summer.
According to Wojnarowski’s report, Brown was the fifth coaching candidate to interview with the Nuggets, who decided not to bring George Karl back after he won coach of the year this past season.
The Nuggets finished third in the Western Conference in the regular season and are bringing back a majority of their core roster, however Andre Iguodala could be one of the main parts who could potentially leave as he’s an unrestricted free agent.
BEST OF MAXIM

FANCY ANOTHER GO?
Manu Ginobili is aging and did not play well in the NBA Finals, but the Argentine says he does not have plans to retire.
Throughout much of the Finals, Tracy McGrady has been an obsession for the media.
T-Mac was once the superstar of the NBA, a legitimate scoring champion and one of the best players in the league. There were legitimate arguments between McGrady and Kobe Bryant when McGrady was in the league. That is something you can forget when you watch McGrady, now at 34 years old and a time...
Ryan Richards will participate on the San Antonio Spurs' Summer League team.
Richards was drafted in 2010 by the Spurs.
What do you do when your team suffers an agonizing defeat when a championship was within grasp?
Well, if you're Danny Green, you go out to a Miami nightclub for a night of deafening loud music and mixed drinks. Unfortunately for Green, it also happened to be the same South Beach club that LeBron James and the Heat chose to celebrate their winning of the Larry O'Brien Trophy...
The San Antonio Spurs were “oh so close” to bringing home their fifth NBA title in 15 years. When I say “oh so close,” I mean they were up five points, and they were 28 seconds away from likely reeling in the Larry O’Brien trophy (key word being likely.) ”It isn’t over ’till it’s over” and “it isn’t over ’till the fat lady sings” are phrases that will...
Tim Duncan has had a career of pure excellence. For 16 seasons, it has been all about consistent winning, key plays and making himself and his teammates better. Rarely does Duncan let anything emote from him in victory or defeat just expecting victory like he was born to do it -- and he very well might have been.
Duncan has faced plenty of adversity in his career, but maintained...
The Spurs have announced they will play 4 regular season games in Mexico City in 2014. Sounds like a super safe idea. In a related story, here’s a video of FX’s new series about women who are brutally murdered and cut in half south of the border. Enjoy!

McNabb Is An Idiot
The long-running joke after every major sports championship is that the loser automatically becomes the winner in whatever third-world country the unused, non-actual-champion t-shirts are sent to. For San Antonio Spurs fans lamenting their recent loss to the Miami Heat, it didn’t take a trip overseas to see what it’s like to be Fake 2013 NBA Champions, as NBATV inadvertently...
